ATD 5481 Flare Kit

I've only used it once and the threads on the 1/4" line holder are stripped so I can't flare them out as it won't tighten anymore. not very happy

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Minor issues

Does not work with steel brake lines!

Does not work with steel brake lines! The tool does not hold the line well enough. If you try to flare the cord, it just pushes the cord through the tool. It doesn't look solid either. After the first use there were imprints on the thread and on the base. Send this junk back.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • Nothing here

This is a very good tool. I was actually able to double the flash.

Very good tool. In fact, I was able to flare the brake line twice in channel "C" of my truck frame. Typical double flaring tools based on traditional plumbing flaring tools are inferior to this tool in every respect.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Other Other

not suitable for steel suitable for brake flaring tools

You get what you pay for. Can be suitable for copper or other soft pipe. No steel pipe. I deburr the tube and when I put 45 on it I cut the corner of the tool. I took the tool to work and redid 45 thinking I had overtightened it. Same result. It doesn't have to be hardened steel. Don't waste money

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Quality
