It's quick and easy, just watch YouTube

You don't have to take much apart. Mostly, but a few tie raps. Watch a few YouTube videos before you start and you'll see how easy it is. This part has already been replaced once as part of a factory recall, but after more than 10,000 starts the replacement has worn out. The car is just parked in the middle of the street. It was a cheap way to extend my daughter's college trip for a while.

Pros
  • Great design

  • I'll write back later

Solving Electrical Problems

My parents' 1998 Honda CR-V shut down while driving and the problem has only gotten worse. The car rolled over, but when the key was released all power to the car was immediately cut off. As soon as I replaced this part, the car immediately started and stayed on. I left it on for a few minutes to make sure it didn't turn off again, which it didn't. I then opened up the case that houses the contacts and noticed this brown/garbage-like substance which was most likely the culprit. I took my time…

So far so good for ignition starters

My CRV 98 had an issue where it would sometimes not start and also randomly shut off and crash when I was driving from time to time. This problem kept getting worse and I decided to replace this part with things I had read online from people with similar problems. Installation is relatively easy, I'm no mechanic but you basically just have to remove the dash panels so you can unscrew the old unit (right at the end where you put the key. Just screw in and just follow the old wiring to get to see

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • Requires outlet

When your first generation CR-V breaks down in the middle of the road, you need this part. Contacts wear out and the electrics fail intermittently at first, but gradually deteriorate. No engine, no headlights, no power steering. Not good. No need to buy that whole lock cylinder block my auto parts guy tried to sell me for over $200. Thanks for YouTube and Revain. Needless to say, this was not an easy setup. At least not as easy as it looked on YouTube. The layout of the switch and terminals…

Fixed 1998 Honda C-RV random stop.

This fixed my random stopping and not starting on my 1998 Honda CRV. The first generation Honda CR-V has a known problem with the ignition switch. I spoke to a technician at Honda who tried to tell me that my accidental stop wasn't the ignition switch because I could have shaken the keys in the ignition to get it to stop, but it didn't. No matter how hard I tried to shake the key, I couldn't get it to stop. He also said if it was the ignition switch it would always start straight away, which…
