Intelligent design does two things.

How: 1) physical connection at the edge of the filter. Obviously an improvement over "that other brand" to hold the filter together. I have NEVER had an IF YOU CARE filter fall apart like other brands like Melitta and Trader Joes often do. 2) Unlike Melitta, IF YOU CARE filters have a laser-cut thumb notch that allows for faster and easier opening and insertion into the filter holder. If you make as many cups of coffee a day as I do, I thank IF YOU CARE for this small design improvement every…

Eco-friendly and won't break! Magic!

They don't really break! I've been using them every morning for several weeks and have never had a single problem. This is the third organic/natural brand I've tried and it's the first I've found that doesn't rip at the seams or make a big mess. I think they are as good as the Melitta brand and they are made from responsible materials and contain no chlorine. Aren't they really affordable?! I'm so amazing on this band van. You won't be disappointed when you order them.

Leaks - Bottom burst on 2 of first 5 used

I liked the environmental aspect of the filters but so far have ruined 2 batches of coffee in the first 5 tries. The bottom seam opens and pours the coffee grounds into the coffee maker. I guess I'll keep trying them as the box is full but one more mistake and they end up in the compost. They're made from thinner paper than the competition, which reduces waste, but never mind if the product doesn't work. Update: folding the bottom and sides improves performance so 1 in 5 batches leaks. It's…

Flavorless filters that won't tear

True story: After my annual checkup ten years ago, my cholesterol levels went through the roof. My doctor asked me if I used perforated brew coffee filters β€” the ones that have tiny holes that supposedly improve flavor ("flavor-enhancing micro-perforations"). I did, so I threw them away. My cholesterol level has dropped significantly. If You Care Unbleached All Natural #4 Cone Filter is my favorite non-perforated coffee filter. The fact that they're responsibly sourced, biodegradable and…

fine unbleached compostable coffee filter

If You Care products are pretty good. I buy them when I can as I love that they are all unbleached and chlorine free. #4 coffee filters work great in a typical brew system or pour-over style. I've used it for the latter case and have found that when I press down on the filter with my hand to force the remaining liquid out of the coffee grounds, it can tear at the seam. I don't think most people would experience this as most people would use it to drip coffee into the machine. But remember, if…

If you care about the environment, not your coffee

I've been using these coffee filters for a few days now, long enough to appreciate them. Reports of them falling apart are true, they are very fragile. Folding at the seam is a necessity, not a simple recommendation. If I followed the right steps, the filter never broke. But how easily the filter broke when I took it out of my Melita after brewing makes it clear that mistakes can cause foundations to show up in your morning coffee. Extra time in my daily routine to take care of the filter…
