Never come back! love love love!

I'll never use ugly gravel to catch trash ever again! Don't force yourself to look at a boring bare-bottomed aquarium! It's perfect for feeding fish, especially goldfish, and it's really pretty to look at. Did I mention this brand isn't a hassle to consume from your siphon?

The Real Deal: Sand

This is the lightest sand and gravel I have ever cleaned. One bag wasn't enough for the plants in my 5 gallon Fluval Chi aquarium, but it was enough. After putting it in a bucket and running the high-pressure hose through it a few times, it was sparkling clean and my tank was no longer clouded with fine sludge. Really nice look in the tank, looks very authentic.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons

Loaches love it in the aquarium Substrate

We added this to our planted aquarium for our loaches and I swear they've gone crazy. They're so happy, digging in and digging, digging in. Sometimes we see a head or tail sticking out, it's pretty funny. I would recommend using a snorkel to pop it into already filled tanks, otherwise it will just disintegrate and it will be difficult to create a cohesive design.

Pros
  • Sturdy surface
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Not bad but overpriced

The sand looks good and comes to you clean, you can wash it in a minute. My only issues are that it's not very soft or thin which is what I was looking for brown catfish. Also, one bag only fills about 5 gallons, so I had to mix 2 bags of play sand to fill my 20 gallons. If you don't mind spending the money, go ahead, but plain old play sand does the job a lot cheaper (it just takes a lot longer to wash before use).

Cons
  • Hard to say

The kind of sharp sand, not the soft smooth kind.

Sharp sand, not soft smooth. I'm worried about my newt's stomach, but he seems fine. The tank is easily cleaned with a siphon and spot cleaned with a washcloth between major cleanings. I just can't put the end of the siphon on the sand obviously, but holding it about half an inch to an inch above the sand doesn't soak up the sand and works fine, FYI. The color on the picture is very similar to reality. Not too white, more beige/grey.

  • Best in its niche

Follow the instructions. A great addition to my aquarium.

Received this aquarium sand yesterday. I bought this primarily because I bought five killer snails and I love sand. I installed a 50 liter fresh water tank. I already have soil and gravel on the bottom for my live plants, but killer snails need sand, and this sand has great reviews. It was easy to clean and I just followed the instructions on the bag. Wait 30 minutes for the sand to settle before returning the fish to the tank. My corridors are having a big day! I'm crawling with mystery…

Beautiful crystal sand for my fish.

The sand is beautiful. A bit of beige mixed with white but the crystals are very pretty nonetheless. A little difficult to wash without a hose, but a few good bucket rinses, like washing rice, helped. Just don't dump the water down the drain, it's bad if the sand gets stuck in the drain! Instead, I throw the muddy water onto the street. I like the extra small pack of the biomagnetic clarifier. This made the water clear faster. Nice gesture. This filled a fairly thin layer in half of my expanded

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Upgradable

Beautiful substrate

There are two versions of Caribsea's Crystal River Sand. One is just sand. The other is packed with pre-cultivated nitrifying bacteria. The version with pre-cultivated nitrifying bacteria comes in the same plastic bag, but the sand will be wet. And it is not recommended to wash it off. In the bag you will find two small packages. One of them is a dechlorinator. The other contains a flocculant to clarify cloudy water. If you are starting a new tank this is what I would recommend. This helps…
