Very handy pliers set!

This is one of those tools that nobody knows they need until they need it. Haven't used them to compress brake springs, but have used them many times for cutting. They work great in tight spaces where I need to remove zip ties and in a pinch they have replaced my needle nose pliers. This is a great tool to have in your toolbox.

  • Best
Cons

7.5 Pliers aren't the same as they used to be!

If I had written this review 10 years ago I would have given it 5 stars. I have had dozens of these 7.5 pliers over the past 30 years. We use them a lot in the shop and they last 4 or 5 years before wearing out. Of the last three we bought recently, two broke from use like all the others have for decades. Not what they use is far from the quality but I haven't been able to find a satisfactory replacement.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Communication with Seller

Unique pliers, useful for many things

I used to have these pliers but lost them a few years ago. I've searched all the hardware and tool vendors and couldn't find the same thing anywhere. When I found them here, I was thrilled and ordered them immediately. Come back the next day and do a great job. Use them specifically for removing stuck clamps on transmission shafts, but the design of the tip makes them useful for many purposes. Says they are made in the USA so that's an added bonus. The quality is excellent, I bought a few moreโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons

Made in the USA on Pliers

This is a quality tool of which I am proud. The tool is basically flawless. The unique end cutter design looks like it will work, but I plan to use mine solely to remove the brake spring. The long reach of the tool makes it ideal for this type of work. There is enough clearance between the jaws for the center drag spring when closed, and the end cutters easily hold the spring when pulled to release the hook from the bar. I discovered this trick while reading product reviews and I'm glad I madeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Beautiful Packaging
Cons
  • Frequency

Ideal for safety wire. Excellent warranty support.

I use these for safety wire (up to .041โ€ณ) and they get into hard to reach places that 'regular' wire cutters can't. XLT) The first pair had a small misalignment of the jaws that reduced efficiency near the tip, but Channellock's warranty process was simple and relatively quick: 30 days from dispatch of the defective pliers to receipt of a new (perfect) one. Replacement at Channellock in Pennsylvania.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Low repairability
