Smooth and holds up well!

My husband works as a design consultant and often takes his iPad, laptop, portable whiteboard and some cutlery and tools with him. This bag has room for all that and more! The fabric is water-repellent and washes well. The design is very elegant and looks very professional. The Columbia logo is not offensive or flashy, which is what it needs to work. In general I am very satisfied with this bag and I see that it will serve him for many years!

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • A dodgy purchase for seniors

Very easy for luggage and travel gear

This is a very simple and easy design. There are no frills in this backpack, it's just a backpack that has the bare minimum of everything to give you space to carry your stuff with no hidden pockets, organizers, gimmicks and frills. You have room for a 15 inch laptop and there is enough foil for it. The main compartment is spacious with a zip pocket on the front. No side water bottle pockets and adjustable padded shoulder straps. So if you're looking for simplicity, this is your backpack. It's…

Daily Driver Spacious Backpack

The Columbia Mazama backpack is an all-rounder in many ways. It combines minimalist design, elegant black color, versatility and spaciousness in one package. Adjustable straps make it versatile in size, but with its 25 liter capacity it can get quite bulky when filled to the brim. Inside, as mentioned, there's plenty of room for whatever you want. I particularly like the padded laptop sleeve that fits my 13" laptop and has plenty of room. The build quality is worthy of the Columbia name, nice…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Doubtful

Not the Columbia you remember

First impressions of this simple backpack are that it's surprisingly simple Jane. Actually two pockets of decent size and the inner pocket with a divider. That's all. It will certainly be large enough for a schoolboy to lug around his books or for you to stock up on for a day hike. The zippers work smoothly. The problem with this backpack is that it doesn't cost very much. This is not the quality you would expect from Colombia. The backpack body material is surprisingly light and thin. Maybe…

Definitely worthy of the Columbia name.

I'm surprised by the mixed reviews of this backpack. I use this backpack every day for 6 weeks. Our son is hospitalized for a bone marrow transplant and this is the bag I used to carry things between home and the hospital. This is a simple and lightweight backpack with no frills. I don't like frills or lots of dividers in backpacks so this is perfect for me. There is one thing I wish every backpack, including this one, had a large water bottle holder for. The ones in this bag fit a standard 16…

  • I vaguely remember

Not worthy of the Columbia brand

I was surprised at how cheaply made this backpack was as as a Columbia I expected a lot more. It's very light and resembles cheap Chinese backpacks that you can buy for under $10. It's made of very thin fabric, it's not really thought through, it's as simple in design as it can get. Two inside pockets and a small outside pocket. No overlaps anywhere except a small divider on one side into two compartments. The rest is unlined thin nylon material. It's also the most uncomfortable backpack I've…
