Description of πŸ”Œ DROK Boost Converter Module - Set of 3 USB DC-DC Step Up Voltage Regulator Boards, 3V to 5V 1A for Enhanced MP3, MP4, and Phone Charging

The input voltage range of mobile power supply boost module is DC1V-5V, output voltage range is DC5.1V-5.2V, and output current range is 1A-1.5A. Wide Application: DROK step-up converter can be applied by many electric devices, such as mobile phones, MP3, MP4, PSP, etc. High Efficiency: The boost regulator is with high conversion efficiency up to 96%. (the higher the input voltage, the higher the efficiency). Special Design: Our mobile power supply is designed with under-voltage indicator. When the input voltage is lower than 2.7V, the LED indicator is off. Simple Wiring Connection: Connect the IN+ to positive pole of power supply and connect IN- to negative pole of power supply.

There was a click when prompted to charge the phone or power up some LEDs

I've managed to die two of these so far. The first was when connected in series with the 3rd AAA to charge a regular phone. The second time I powered a chain of 144 LEDs. I know LEDs use quite a bit of power, but it seems to me that if something has a USB connector, it should withstand the load and time it takes to charge a cellphone.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Works well, minor issues

I ordered 3 of these, when they arrived they were just thrown together and wrapped in bubble wrap with the company card. After inspecting the three circuit boards, I found that the soldiers' joints were shiny, but the back of one of the USB ports appeared to have suffered heat damage. Although the product works great I would recommend buying 3 in case you get a bad one because you should expect this kind of quality at this price point.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Not very good, but passable.

TL;DR: Not suitable for more than 500mA continuous current (overheating), not suitable for standby current. Tested with a 5.0v dummy load tester and ammeter - plan to use this to power a recycled 18650s can (with separate charge/protection circuitry). Photos with continuous load (LED fully on) and no load (LED slightly on).1. Has significant standby power consumption when plugged in with no load - there is no obvious way to disable the circuit. For battery backup applications, provide a switch…

Pros
  • Satisfied for the time being
Cons
  • I will write later
