I also noticed that the black plastic is easy to peel off if you try to screw the lamp socket in too tight. It feels a little more flexible than the factory lamp housing, so it bends more easily. The first problem was the retaining clips on the side holding the bracket against the studs. The metal is very thin and very thin. Clips bent even after applying a thin layer of lubricant.
