I still insist on opening the hood of my truck.

Was difficult to install as the rubber part on the cable was too big. This piece of rubber doesn't stay in the hole it's supposed to plug.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Socket required

Unlike OEM cables

This cable has a large rubber section where it goes through the firewall. Tensioning the cable over the parking brake is almost impossible. The original had a much smaller eyelet area and was flexible making it easier to screw in.

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • Good but not great

Used Handle Only. I didn't want to take it apart too much and the handle was the only damaged thing on my truck. It seems difficult to get a new cable through the firewall, but the quality and functionality of the product itself is perfect! Chevy Tahoe Lt. 5.3L 4WD 2001

Pros
  • Brings Joy
Cons
  • New Competitors Appeared

2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD

2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD Diesel: Worked well with minor modifications. Enlarge the hole in the handle mounting hole slightly to fit the stand. Route the cable under the two separable cable connectors and over the parking brake assembly. Keep the old grommet in the firewall, I cut mine out then replaced it after I routed the new wire and filled it with silicone to fill any gaps from the motor side. Performs great!

  • Several Competitors

Not an exact replacement, but works with slight modifications.

I only purchased the release handle part as my cable was not broken and Dorman claims that only the handle they sell will not fit a post 2000 Silverado truck . (I have a 2007 Classic Silverado). The handle can be quickly swapped out, but this handle doesn't quite fit; The hole in the part of the handle attachment to the truck interior is too small. Easy attachment to drill a larger hole in plastic. The whole process of replacing the handle with drilling a larger hole took 15-20 minutes.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Communication with Seller

FITS 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 with minor modifications

Fits 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 with a few minor modifications. Loosen the 3 screws on the handbrake and coat the new cable with some washing-up liquid (it slides more easily). Remove the rubber bushing from the old part and mount it on the new one, it's much easier to slide through the space between the handbrake and the car wall. Expand the hole on the handle to assemble and install as usual. Fits great and works great! Not as strong as the original part, but half the price! If you have common…

  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Does not fit 2005 Tahoe

This item was featured by Revain as fitting my 2005 Tahoe, but its grommet is too large to fit the firewall hole and does not cover the hole properly off because it comes into contact with a metal object and this could cause engine exhaust fumes to enter the car. I had to remove the sleeve and cut out the original to reuse. I used masking tape to ensure the reused bushing doesn't delaminate further. I didn't install the handle as mine was fine. I wanted to return it but I really needed to…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
