Live in Arizona and help keep the house warm.

I have bought these shrink wraps in the past and have always been happy with them. I live in Arizona so we use them here for the opposite reasons than in the rest of the country. We have been suffering from extreme heat here for many, many months. We want the house not to be hot and much cooler in the house. To give you an example of how well they work, my kitchen has a lot of windows. Without window film it gets very warm and uncomfortable in my kitchen. My kitchen only gets slightly warm with

FRIEND, FRIEND, FRIEND, FRIEND, FRIEND!

FICKEN, GARBAGE, GARBAGE, GARBAGE, GARBAGE! The weather was mild and dry. I carefully prepared all surfaces and strictly followed all instructions. When I was done the film looked ok - stuck well to the tape around the edges (or so it seemed) and stretched in the middle. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER 2 out of 3 windows had come loose from the tape. or the tape has come off the wall, or both, and it's just hanging down, utterly useless. I remember using a similar product 3 million years ago - it…

Duct tape ruined my windows!

They were easy to install (or as easy as window seals) and kept our house warm in the winter. However, when I tried to take them off in the spring, the double-sided tape wouldn't peel cleanly. It stripped the paint off several of our window frames, and on one window I couldn't get the tape off at all, even with reliable solvents like Tacky. All that was left on the window sill was disgusting strips of yellow tape, it's disgusting. And large strips of paint were torn off on other windows. This…

Lightweight, warm and comfortable to blow dry

I bought this for my family's house which gets quite cold in winter. Mind you, we're in Southern California, but our family's home is full of large arched windows. As this was my first time working with any type of home insulation sheeting, I had to do a lot of research on how it works, how to install it and what brand would work best for me, and somehow I settled on Duck Brand as the best value for money. The 3M brand costs almost twice as much! EASY INSTALLATION I'm sure it's the same for all

Good. BUT. - Window insulation kits

Works. BUT. For best results, follow these pro tips: 1.) Apply double-sided tape. If you're going around the entire window in one go, use a razor blade and score the corners of the window. Any time there is a 90 degree angle, mark it with a razor. The reason is that it's a weak spot and if it's going to rip the tape, it's the first spot because there's usually a bend in the tape here. A notch in the strap prevents this. 2.) When using a hair dryer the plastic REALLY shrinks and doesn't wrinkle.

CRYSTAL CLEAR IS RIGHT

For those of you who doubt your ability and ability to install this properly like I did, FEAR NO. I've never installed anything like this before, and be careful, I'm not the handyman/male type either. But I had absolutely no problems installing it and as promised it's really crystal clear. Repeat the whole thing: I had areas that slightly overlapped, creating a crease. The way I attached the plastic was clearly and visibly slightly crooked to one side. I wasn't sure if shrinking would solve the

Lost Drafts; Four degrees found!

We bought a 200 year old house, we will replace many windows over time. We live in the North East (it's 2F now, it was -5F this morning!) and it gets COLD here in the winter! The old windows are beautiful, but drafty despite their storms. I saw this product at a reasonable price and thought "why not?" We closed 8 upstairs windows (2 bedrooms, bathroom and hallway), 1 dining room window and 1 guest room window. The drafts are gone and we went from 66-67F in the upstairs bedrooms (with the…

Decent quality for the price

Firstly I have been fitting plastic panels to my windows for the last 9 years. Even with windows, I didn't think drafts and new windows would surprise you at the amount of cold air that prevents you from flowing through the window panes themselves (rather than air leaks). This saves me at least $90 on heating bills during the coldest months. Before you seal the last bottom corner of your window on a cold day, just put your hand on the spot and feel all the cold air come out! With our 4-season…
