Works, but an extension cord would be nice!

Handy device for checking temperature and humidity during use. Since it requires a smart device, it's more than likely that it won't sit idle for hours. The device I received seems to be an exact match for the other outdoor thermometer I have. It's good to know that if you have a case for a device that's going to be used, be prepared to remove the case every time you want to use it. I think that's a bad idea and an extension cord would be a great addition to this product. quickly outsideโ€ฆ

Works on Android and newer iPhones with Lightning connector

I really wanted this Extech thermometer and moisture meter, but wasn't sure if it would work on a modern iPhone. I decided to give it a try and used the headphone adapter that came with my phone and of course it works great! Tracks temperature and humidity and optionally displays the data over time. One downside to using an iPhone for this is that you can't charge it and leave the device plugged in at the same time if you don't have a wireless charging stand. Then it will work. I also testedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Contact seller

This is a handy and very delicate item; it measures up to 1/10 degree for temperature and 1% humidity. However, the manufacturer claims that it's calibrated to within 5%, which means that while it's extremely sensitive, it can also be a bit inaccurate. I haven't had a chance to check the calibration. It's easy to set up and is a great way to track temperature and humidity regularly, over time and at specific times and locations. The only problem I had was that the Extech connector didn't workโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything OK!
Cons
  • Slightly torn

That is exactly what is said. Download the app for your Android (which I tested it on) or iPhone and connect the device to the headphone jack and you can view and log real-time temperature and humidity. The software (simple but not as intuitive as it could be) allows you to create several different locations and you can save a reading list for each of those locations. If your job requires careful monitoring and an understanding of temperature and humidity in different areas - or if you'reโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in his niche
Cons
  • Negative impression

It's a bit oversold

I think it's oversold - reading the ad copy makes some claims about leak detection and such, but it's too simple a tool for the job. This is a hygrometer. It will show you the relative humidity as well as a few calculations, but that's about it. For continuous monitoring in the humidor this would be fine if not too much. But in general, that's all. Used for what it is, I have no complaints. I will say that I don't usually trust prepackaged hygrometer calibrations, although calibrating this oneโ€ฆ

Your smartphone can become even smarter!

That's very cool. It turns my iPhone 6+ into a scientific instrument with a free app. My phone is in a waterproof Otter Box so I had to use it with a headphone jack adapter cable, but it worked fine once I installed everything securely. The app allows you to take temperature and humidity readings, record them with a photo of the location being tested along with geographic coordinates, date and time, and more. I'm still figuring everything out, but so far everything is working as advertised. Iโ€ฆ
