Good idea, but not good enough.

I bought this to work with a feeder so the feed doesn't float away and spill all over the tank when dispensed. Unfortunately, it didn't work out the way we'd like. Hope. If your aquarium has internal pumps (wave generators) this will not work for you. The square ring floats, but the lever that attaches it to the aquarium wall is too stiff and the food can blow off the ring. If you don't have a lot of circulating water in your tank, this might be for you.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • So far so good

This is a great little product

This really saved my filter. I placed the food in a square that floated above the tank and after about a week the fish figured out where the food came from. It's pretty easy to install, just clip it to the side of the tank at about water level to make it float. It doesn't distract from the aquarium and I find it really saves food. My snail even climbs on it every once in a while and cleans it for me, although it doesn't get dirty unless I'm lazy and throw food on it instead of on it! :)

Perfect fit for my needs

I bought 3 of these and will be buying a few more soon. But I don't use them to feed fish. I grow duckweed in several of my aquariums and have had many problems with return water from HOB filters blowing duckweed all over the tank. I position them so that the return water from the HOB filters flows directly to these supply rings and the problem was solved. The surface remains pleasant and calm, and the duckweed is happy. If the water level drops between water changes, these feed rings also…

Really useful for maintaining a feeder

Thought I'd give this a try to see if it worked for my tropical fish. The feeding ring is well made, floats well on the water surface even when the water level drops due to evaporation. My fish quickly figured out where to find food and during feeding they crowd around the ring. I like being able to keep floating fish food away from my filter. My fish eat their food very quickly - in seconds not minutes - and this ring really helps limit the drop area. The ring is big enough for all my fish to…

I like it. I'm so glad I got it. Before, my fish didn't know it was time to eat, and floating chunks of food would go straight into the filter and then suddenly fly all over the tank. Now the food stays in a nice little enclosed space. This also works very well with the automatic feeder. Floating feed takes a while before it begins to sink, so it can stay there until the fish realize it's there. Then it's a feeding frenzy but perfect for my 20 gallon guppies and amano. Even the Amano love him…

I love this for my slow swimming gourami!

My Gourami swims very slowly and it works great. My tetras snatched up all the food but the gourami didn't have time. Now he has a small "plate" to eat from. The trick is to lure it to you so it can start eating without the tetras noticing. Sometimes he forgets to eat from it so he fights for food or the tetras enter the ring but generally I have a good routine where I put him in the ring first, scatter the food around the ring and then scatter the food . on the other side of the tetra basin…

Ideal for betta pellets and mosquito larvae.

It's just perfect and does the job well. Thing is, I use it specifically for my rooster rooster and his rooster and bloodworm pellets. It is housed in a 5 gallon tank with a mechanical (adjustable) filter. So the water surface always had a reasonable flow, even at the lowest settings. This meant that his food was distributed throughout the tank. And since he's the only one there right now, that meant a lot of hide and seek before the food was cleared. So if he misses food it will rot in the…
