Fiber Rush falling apart

I had previously ordered Fiber Rush from another company and was very happy with the product. I reordered the product and it came from VI Reed & Cane, Inc. The product shipped very quickly. Every time I have used the product I have briefly dipped it in water to make it flexible to use and every time I have used it the fibers have literally fallen apart.

My first chair conversion experience

So I don't know how to rate this material as I have no fiber experience. I needed the length and had trouble tying new lengths as well as a few breakages when putting on the bulrush. I eventually learned to soak it for a long time (basically submerge it in water and immediately pull it out) and leave the "tail" unwetted. This helped a lot when it came time to tie a new length. Read this before using as a cane chair

This product is PAPER. If you need a seat, you'll need a rolled cattail or something else if you can find one. We submerged it in water but it broke. As you know you need some water on the fiber to make it flexible. Next we tried it dry. It was difficult to use. It looks thicker than the original Spey and size 6/32 is the recommended size for our chair. The first photo was an original impulse from our broken chair. The next 2 fibers replace the paper. Photo 2 is the tear I made, it ripped like…

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Available in white only
