Ford F81Z-7213-AA - Gear Change Knob Review

This is the second replacement for my 2003 F350. It has no grooves to allow the knob to fit properly on the derailleur. But it seems to be holding up well - I don't know how long it will last.

I had an old ballpoint pen that twisted, vibrated and fell off in my hand many times. This stays in place and doesn't vibrate at all. When shifting, it feels good and firm.

Great product. This is a Ford part. I built it up with a block of wood and a rubber mallet. Perfect fit for a 2000 F350 6 speed transmission. Much better than the factory knob that just twisted.

My laptop replacement was loose and sitting on a lever. I could think of a way to make it more durable, but this is the best solution. This is the serrated end of the lever so I had to use a rubber mallet to seat the handle. Now it's a reliable connection.

When I first put the knob on the shifter it was too big. You have to apply some pressure to make it fit snugly on the shifter. Do not hit it with a hammer or you will break it. After that the replacement pen was perfect, in fact it feels softer than the old original hard plastic pen.
