The faucet broke in the hole

The faucet that came with this set is junk. I used it to repair a torn mounting hole on a motorcycle. The faucet broke inside. I then spent the next few hours trying to remove the broken faucet. I wasn't abusive or hard on the faucet. I went in and out 100 times and kept oiling the faucet. It's still broken. Piece of shit. If you're selling a faucet set, it should be of decent quality. I couldn't even drill the first hole.

Pros

it would be great if it didn't break

I thought this thing would save me and it seems so, but it really didn't. The product is really good and only worked on 2 of the 3 holes I had to fix. My black lead screw is broken. There is a small piece of metal at the tip of the guide tool that I broke off while repairing the 2nd hole. I was lucky enough to finish the 2nd hole. Everything works fine, but the fact that it broke so easily honestly pissed me off. I have reworked the valve cover holes on a honda d16z6 engine and repaired the…

My task saved!

I bought this to fix a threaded hole in an aluminum engine case. I ended up patching three or four more holes in the same case. A very convenient solution. I only had to fix one size hole. But I will consider buying a full set if I ever need to patch a non-6mm hole. no longer to be found or very expensive to purchase. One solution (not for those doing a perfect restoration) is to recut the hole to the standard 6mm x 1 size and use the much more common 6mm bolt or screw instead of the old 5mm…

Perfect thread repair for stripped aluminum head bolt holes

2000 Honda Accord V6 J30A1 I was able to get the threads out of two holes in the aluminum head by tightening the valve cover. I sighed miserably and accepted the reprieve. HeliCoil will ALWAYS save your bacon in these situations. Of course, after a negligible hour of delay with this kit, I rethreaded both holes and bolted the valve cover securely into place. A 100% thread repair requires ONLY drilling a hole up to the insertion depth of the HeliCoil PLUS, an additional 2mm. In the automotive…

Saved our Chevy Cruze

In my desperation while googling I came across a recommendation to buy a "Helicoil kit" after nearly wrecking our 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco 1.4L when we replace a valve cover. Thread fracture in the engine block. This resulted in an oil leak while driving. Not good. After finding the screw sizes, this kit ended up in my shopping cart WITH the wrench as I didn't have one. Installation was easy and very reliable once installed. as well as a drill that can drill through metal so you can clean the screw

Pros
  • Great overall specs

  • Useless features

Coil tab broke on installation on all coils

I used this product to repair stripped threads in the aluminum on my car's transmission pan. I drilled a hole, used the included tap to cut the threads, then proceeded to insert the spool. The coils had trouble going into a threaded hole. They go in a pair of threads, and then the coil's metal tab (which you'll have to break off once inserted) is cut off. I double checked that the new threads are clean and the faucet is easy to hand tighten. I ended up going to Autozone and paying about $13…

worked for me in metric inserts and kits

This kit worked like a charm when I needed to fix a broken gear screw. The process I went through to remove the old broken cross-threaded bolt severely damaged the bolt hole threads. The upper gear housing is made of aluminum, so this coil bobbin kit worked very well. I used the recommended drill bit, 1/4" I believe, to enlarge the bolt hole. Then I used a tap very slowly and steadily (I put a small drop of anti-seize compound in the grooves/end of the tap to... to lubricate it and catch the…
