I thought the product was great! Easy to install

I NEVER write a review but this one deserves one. I thought the product was great! easy to install and lock. The lock had been CLOSED on the lift for months and one day the top just fell off! I see it and the bolt falls down and lands on my hood. He drove a good 10 miles there before I stopped. I wasn't able to film the top part flying off, but I have a VIDEO of the stud hanging from my hood right now. Apparently it can just jump up and free itself, which makes me wonder if someone really…

it appears to be poorly constructed

I've had this on my hood cradle for over two and a half years. First, the locking mechanism is pretty flimsy, but it works. However, it appears to be poorly designed. The hole in the middle collects in the water, the thread rusts and jams. The locking mechanism is weak and cannot tighten the nut enough to break the rusted threads and keeps slipping. Right now my only option is to pry open the plastic handle with a chisel and then hopefully find a way to tighten and remove the nut with a wrench.

A little weak for the hood pins

At first glance it looks like a solid lock. Sometimes it's a bit tricky because you don't always know if the lock is on or not. You need a lot of thread, otherwise it will spin through immediately even after it blocks. I accidentally dropped it in the garage and the locking mechanism fell out of the handle. There was no glue to hold it in place and I didn't want to add one so it wouldn't interfere with turning the key. I put it back on and it was tight but you can still pull it out. I'm sure if

Works great with JK bonnet bracket

exactly as described, fits JK bonnet bracket perfectly (I have 15 JKUR). The standard hood mounting kit does not come with a lock, so this is a great way to prevent your hood mounted jack from being easily stolen. The operation is simple, you turn it on and insert the key (while holding the handle one more time) and turn the key to lock the lock, then you can pull the key out and the handle turns freely, but don't go somewhere. Conversely, insert the key and turn the other way to unlock the…

Didn't help - hood pins

When it arrived the key would not turn. I took it apart and found that one of the pins had come loose from the cylinder. Back to the place, the lock earned. Make no mistake, this lock is poorly designed and built. It actually comes with a warning to be careful with it. This is not typical of Hi-Lift. All of the other Hi-Lift products I own are great. Find another way to block the Hi-Lift Jack. Update - I loosely locked the lock as suggested. After a few months the threads rusted a bit. I was…

Ours was defective so I'm not sure if this product actually works.

I purchased this additional stand alone product which was introduced when I bought the jack installation kit I bought for my husband's Jeep for Christmas 2019. Since we put our jeep into storage until April, he didn't install his jack kit until then, and then when he replaced one of the one pot parts with this lockable hi-lift part. That does not work! It won't block. Since the time of purchase in November/December has already passed. When he called to replace this broken part that was supposed
