Use the pilot hole!

For the guy who said they were boring. Try a pilot hole! 3/16 inch or 1/4 inch and they go right in. Do this constantly and the number you unscrew will go down and you won't tear your wood.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • New competition is here

More than enough for the job but great value for money

Fair quality - store quality. But they're 1/3 the price, so by all means buy them unless you're building a space shuttle or something where strength and stability are key.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank

Some materials may require slightly larger guides. I have installed in standard wood 2x4, 2x6 etc with an impact wrench. My neighbors hate me. If it becomes necessary to tighten or remove these lags I would…
