If you spend hours commuting on public transport or moving from hotel to hotel, this cable lock will come in handy to prevent nimble fingers from stealing your laptop, but worse, it'll disappear with years of data. The cable is designed to wrap around a fixed support (rail, pipe, bracket) and the lock fits into a "security slot" found on most laptops. It is no problem to pry the lock out of the groove or out of the attachment point. So it's a visual deterrent to accidental theft, but nothing…

great for college dorm

I bought this lock for my college dorm and the difficulty of "fixing" the lock to your table depends on the design of the table - mine had a hole in the middle of the table, so i loop the end of the lock. Otherwise, you'll have to "tie" the end of this lock to a solid support. Also, the guide to set up the lock combination is very simple. definitely user-friendly and won't let your roommates pull too many pranks on you.

Faulty lock

My experience with this product did not start well. The instructions for the lock are incredibly ambiguous. There's no clear procedure for setting the combination, but I think I got that part right anyway. The main problem was that the T-bar that is supposed to lock the lock was broken. Instead of a full 90 degree rotation as instructed in the instructions, the lock I got only rotated about 30 degrees. However, due to the vague instructions, I did not understand the defect at first and…

Perfect for its purpose

Does what it's supposed to do - offers a clear theft protection. These things aren't designed to stop the most determined and well-equipped thieves, they're primarily designed to deter theft. Very useful for things like hotels, trains or other situations where you really don't want to take your laptop everywhere but otherwise can't easily secure it. No security is 100% perfect, and a thief with bolt cutters, or just anyone who doesn't care about damaging what they're trying to steal, can still…

Wordlock Security Lock Purchased from BSales99

I think you're unlikely to make an accidental mistake entering the lock code. First turn the slot 90', then turn 4 dials to select the code word (two letters at a time on the dial will be displayed before moving to the selection slot), after entering the code correctly, turn the slot 90' set back code. The slot cannot be accidentally moved as it needs to be pushed with a paper clip, small screwdriver, etc. when rotating. Hold down the button, insert the lock into the Kensington slot on the…
