Fantastic Solder: Soldering & Soldering Equipment

I bought this reel after running out of stuff at the Radio Shack. I missed! This material is amazing and flows way better than what I've used. I have to say this is a great product for the price. I've done quite a few projects and don't even think I've broken a 1lb roll. The diameter is great for small projects I've been working on (small circuit boards, etc.).

Mil-Spec Solder - Solder and Flux

A whole pound of high quality solder. Bought a soldering coil at the same time, a match made in heaven. Use it to solder lots of small electronics. Don't forget to bring solder, tin and/or flux. It's a good solder, I've enjoyed working with it so far. I was able to use it to solder 28 to 0 gauge wire. It will do what you need for 99% of most projects. Kester makes some of the best solder (even the US military uses it).

Best Solder!: Solder

This is the best solder I have ever used! It's really amazing how it can affect your soldering. Oh, and yes, there's lead in it, which is good! You'll be fine using this stuff, probably not worth eating, but you'll be fine. A good flux inside makes a big difference too, I rarely have to reach for my flux pen. And this diameter is the ideal general purpose size for most wires from 10 to 30 AWG and for all through hole electronic components as well as SMD components. Great item, you won't be…

Great solder for prototyping, especially on perforated sheet metal

I noticed someone else commented that the eutectic alloy flows better at the melting point and that 60/40 should be avoided for prototyping, but I think they lack very general usage pulling out solder traces on a perforated board. This alloy is great for this because you can set your soldering iron to a fairly low temperature and then direct the solder exactly where it needs to go without thinning too much and falling through holes in the board. I definitely recommend buying this lot.…

It's been 4 years and it's still cool!

Bought almost 4 years ago and still plenty left! I'm just an amateur so I don't go through a ton of this on a daily basis but gosh this solder is awesome! It's so nice never to worry about the ending. If I have any complaints it's that I find it a bit flimsy for working with tube gear and the like, but it's perfectly usable in that context too. After all this time I'm only now going back to buy something more but a little thicker. but only for convenience. :) I remember racking my brains about…

Life is too short to use anything else

Disclaimer: I'm NOT an electrician but I pretend to be one in our house because I'm basically a cheap son of a bitch and hate meeting someone to pay to fix what i think i can do it myself. I'm also married to a woman I cautiously refer to as 'Tool Killer Jones' because if he has a motor or a motor, a trigger or a switch, she'll find a way to use him for something that he never did. designed and will eventually end up on my workbench. But where, where was this stuff all my life? I recently added

I AM A WILD OPERATOR AND ALWAYS SELLING SOMETHING

I have been a radio amateur for over 35 years. I spend far more time restoring old gear and kits than I ever would on the air. I just love getting in an old Heathkit and getting my hands dirty. I use a lot of solder. I was looking for a source of supply as the people I was buying from were going broke. I found this on Revain, the price compares well to other sources. I ordered it and have been using it for a while. This is private label and it works great. It's a low flow, so there's less mess.

The best material for electronics!

What can I say? This is what you need when soldering printed circuit boards. It's thin enough to maneuver easily and get into tight spaces with ease. And 60/40 has such a nice low melting point that you don't have to fight that higher melting point lead-free crap that makes you burn circuit boards and tin your soldering gun tip, causing it to corrode. Get this stuff and make soldering easy! By the way, try to wear gloves whenever possible. After all, it consists of 40% lead. If you're going to…

Commercial Solder for Electronics

I use Kester Resin Core Solder on a daily basis both as a quality assurance professional, electronics tester and repairer and in all my electronics hobby projects. Kester's 44 is a strong and reliable plumb bob for my home projects. This is lead solder, meaning it produces well-filled solder joints with IPC Class 3, MIL-spec flow characteristics. Most solder joints do not require additional flux unless you are working with an oxidized or contaminated board. Use the iron setting 650F for small…
