Long service life, simple and effective design, popular brand.

I have used them many times over the years and had a set for about 20 years and finally one broke and I decided to buy a new set due to the long life of the tool and the simple and efficient designs of these tools. Personally I wouldn't buy cheaper clones as I already know the quality I'm getting with Lisle brand instruments which I've personally used for years and so far my investment has been well worth it. If used correctly, these shutdown tools will make your life a lot easier.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Easier than everyone says.

I used 3/4 inch to disconnect the coolant hose from the heater core on the Silverado. Did it by hand with a flashlight, it worked great. Read a lot of reviews from people who got on The Battle Bus is trying to do the same. This one tool is all I need. Just place it on the heater core wire coming out of the firewall, pull on it until it's fully seated in the connector, push it with my fingers to release the clips in the connector, then twist the connector to pull it out and BOOM, it banged. EASY

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

This type of job is best for tools and equipment

These tools do what they are supposed to do which is remove barbs from the pipe so you can remove the connector from the pipe. But they can't always help you to remove the coolant connector from the coolant tube. The reason they can't always help is that with coolant fittings that have been on the pipe for a long time, most of the time their internal o-rings are welded to the tube, making the coolant fitting fittings not easily removable. On my '07 Yukon, I found it best to use a hacksaw blade…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some little things

Just buy it, it will work.

With all the options and recommendations I bought these primarily to remove the heater core disconnect on my 08 Silverado. If you were watching, it's a very tricky place and they worked exactly how I hoped. They were placed in the tightest of spaces and, when positioned correctly, did what they were supposed to do without fail. They're not bulletproof, but I wasn't worried about them breaking. They probably don't get much use now, but I have them and would use them again anytime. 3-11-21 used…

Pros
  • Releases spring clutches on Ford and Chrysler AC lines.
Cons
  • Nothing

Disappointed with utility

Item will arrive as you see it; the quality is ok for the price. Holds up well the first time you use it. All good things end here. This product did NOT work. My fingers are worn and peeled. not be pushed, pulled, squeezed, twisted, or done all at once while attempting to use this product. I thought I was smart about getting the right tool for the job, but I don't think it's the right tool. Unless I'm lacking in technique (I've watched the video, read the package, and seen a three-picture guide

Pros
  • Six sizes: 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4" and 7/8". All connectors are available in individual packaging.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
