Additional hoses required, not included

Works great for me so far. Not sure about keeping my fry in there until they are released to the main tank but running water and a brood guard is perfect. (Edit) Not sure if that's supposed to be the case, but it's pulsating instead of a constant flow. watch the video (edit done) I knew this would require an air pump. But honestly there's no reason why it can't come with a longer air hose rather than the consumer making sure they have what they need. Would you like to offer us the best customer

My fish ran away. for rearing tanks

I bought this to try rearing boxes again. My pregnant platys always hated my previous one and never used it to give birth. They were too stressed about it. I figured I'd buy a bigger and better one and try again. This box was big enough and appeared to be of high quality. but my wages still hated it. One night she literally jumped into the main tank. Lid off and that's it. I thought my cat somehow got in there until I saw the fish back into the main tank. Maybe I could put something on the lid…

Not suitable for the smallest juveniles

After dealing with two other grow boxes I wanted one that would not release my false Julii Cory into the main tank. The smallest "grid" for the overflow is big enough for the juvenile fish to swim through and get into the aquarium to become food for the fish. I modified it by putting a mesh on the overflow part and I pray this will protect my barks from my other fish. You also have to be careful with the current, if it is too strong, the tank fills up so much that the young fish can swim out of

The only way to breed/isolate

Having used this shark egg incubator I can tell you that it completely destroys alternatives "in the aquarium". The active intake of water into the chamber ensures a constant exchange. It's amazing how much water can stagnate in one of the "in the tank" boxes. Why does it matter? The oxygen-rich and circulating water ensures that the water quality in the box is as close as possible to that of the rest of the aquarium. Also, algae don't grow well in an oxygen-rich environment, even if the box…

Gentle water flow is best for spawning pools

09/23/2021: My burrows laid a few eggs so I put them in this box. I connected an air pump and the water from the aquarium gets into the spawning pool with the movement of air bubbles from the pump. This is a very gentle stream of water droplets falling into the box. I think it will be great for the juveniles because it changes the water but very gently. I deducted one star for two issues. One of them is an airliner pipe holder. Inserting the tube into the holder is very difficult. I don't…

Good for big fish

I would give this 5 stars if it weren't for saying it's for small fish. I was missing a small piece of plastic with slots that keeps the fish from flying out of the spout. I made my own and used a fishing net to cover up a piece of plastic cut to the size of the holes in it. The baby guppies didn't make it through. The next morning, some of them swim in a large aquarium. I took them out before they were eaten. They didn't get through the discharge. You must have gone through where the entrance…

Fantastic little breeder

We bought a couple of guppies that happened to be pregnant so I stayed with this breeder overnight. I think the design is fantastic. The bubbler tube keeps the water in the box by constantly spinning it along with the main tank, and as long as the water flow is high enough the temperature stays fairly constant. The gurgling noise reported by some other reviewers is only an issue when the airflow is very high, but the box comes with an air supply valve that can be used to reduce it until it…

Great hanging box! Best in breeding tanks

I love these things! I use them to transport breeders from one tank to another and then acclimate them. My guppies and endlers give birth in it (I've learned that I need to put some artificial plants in a box over a separator to make them feel safe enough to give birth, although a spot in the feeder is usually sufficient). I then feed the fry in a box for a few weeks and then eventually move them to breeding tanks where I use the box to acclimate them. All in all it's fabulous. I wish I had a…
