It's sturdy as toys from the 50's

This is an exception to the "they don't make things the way they used to" complaints we have about a lot of things. I was amazed at the quality. This is the perfect toy for my daughter. She loves helping her mum clean up and this set is great for that. The quality is excellent, made from durable wood, the bristles on the broom and mop are soft cotton, the stand is well built and sturdy, and even the box it came in was adorable. My daughter loves this set and I recommend it as an inexpensive yet

    Pros
    • High marks for support and durability from testers
    Cons
    • Some minor issues

Not the best quality and the shovel is useless

I'm usually a big fan of Doug and Melissa's toys, but this toy is a major drawback and a durability issue. First the dust collector. The edge of the pot is quite thick, does not taper towards the edge and has no rubber edge. That means you can't sweep dust into the pan. My daughter wants to help me clean up with her dustpan and broom, but most of the dirt just sticks to her fat lip. The second problem is the mop. The strings are just thick, loose fitting strings that will wear down and break…

    Great role play set!

This is an adorable cleaning playset. My son LOVES "cleaning". We've had another plastic set for a while, but I like that this one comes with a stand. Very cute, durable (only used about a month). The ends seemed a little dangerous for my little one, so I bought (from Revain) 1/2" diameter (1" deep) rubber leg caps to fit the ends of all the wooden poles. It made him feel a lot safer. I had to change the strings to make them longer so they can be hung on a stand, but that's a minor change…

The kids love it more than you think.

Very durable. My 6 year old was standing on the bleacher bar when he fell. It didn't break, just bent and straightened. (After reminding him it's not for standing) Easy to assemble. The stand rolled up nicely. Small thread hoops hang easily on hooks. However, I would wish for an alternative to the wall bracket that would match the set. Great item for a gift. Children can imitate adults without the risk of hitting everything with a broomstick twice the size. Minus is the mop. Slightly oddly…

Very cute set and good quality product

I bought this for my recently 2 year old son to encourage role play. This set is really cute and looks very well put together. It came mostly assembled, all I had to do was attach the stand to the base. The base is lightweight which helps keep it upright. My son is a bit young for this and hasn't quite grasped the concept of role-playing yet. So he's basically dragging him around the house, which can be a bit dangerous at times when he's brandishing a broom or mop. I saw him try to sweep the…

    Cute but imperfect design

I bought this set for my 2 year old daughter who loves to help around the house. She enjoys using them but can't put them back on the holder because the loops are made of rope and require more fine motor skills than she does. I end up having to pick up the pieces several times a day and put them back on the holder for them, which of course is exhausting. Having worked with young children for quite some time I can assure you that most young children will not take the time or effort to put them…

Great kit to keep kids out of their hair while brushing.

My one-year-old likes this set very much. It is well designed with a central base that houses the broom, mop, duster, hand broom and dustpan. It's made entirely out of wood so it can take abuse from being stepped on, being thrown off the stairs, siblings getting hit, you know, all those things kids love to do, like helping mom and dad clean up, besides the actual cleaning. The only quality issue I see with the set is that the center base is a little wobbly and the shovel is pretty flimsy. I was

Great if you're not paying full price

Bought for my son on Prime Day for about half the regular price. I've had this on our wish list for quite some time, but I've refused to pay the ridiculously high prices that Melissa & Doug products carry. After receiving the item and unboxing it is definitely nicely made but still not worth the usual $30-$35 price tag. A family friend has a cleaning playset for her child that she bought at Wal*Mart for about $15 and I would say it's every bit as good as this set. I know people love Melissa &…
