Don't buy this. in Computers and Accessories

It's been about two weeks since I installed this modem/router combo. I used to have a Linksys CM3024 modem and a Linksys WRT3200ACM. The WRT3200ACM's 5GHz chip eventually failed and I decided to buy a modem/router combo to save space as the new apartment we moved into has the worst possible space for the coax. In short, I should have just bought a new WRT3200ACM. This new setup is garbage. Not two weeks old and I already have to reset it several times a day. This combination broadcasts the SSID

Pros
  • VERSATILE PORTS: 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 2 USB ports provide a fast wired connection to your computer, printer, game console, storage device and more.
Cons
  • Weight

Works great, very fast!

I bought this model after Apple abandoned the Airport line and since I didn't see the point of keeping the cable modem and router separate you can easily combine them into one. I also took the opportunity to upgrade my ISP as I had an outdated plan from Time Warner before they switched to Spectrum. Long story short, between this major hardware upgrade and my internet service upgrade, I'm not getting crazy speeds on 5G. I would call this router a "tank" - it's quite large and heavy, which may…

Pros
  • COMPATIBLE WITH ALL MAJOR CABLE INTERNET PROVIDERS: including Xfinity certification from Comcast, COX and Spectrum. NOT compatible with Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH and all associated voice services.

2.4GHz network drops randomly

I bought this device hoping that it would work with all our wireless devices at the same time. We have many Wemo switches and outlets around our house, as well as regular devices like tablets, laptops, FireTV streaming devices, etc. So far the 2.4GHz network is randomly turning off all my 2.4GHz clients, even the 5 GHz network and wired devices continue to function normally. I've tried experimenting with all available 2.4GHz network settings and I still encounter numerous 2.4GHz network…

Pros
  • FAST WiFi PERFORMANCE: Get WiFi coverage up to 3000 square meters. Feet and 45 devices connected at AC3200 speed (up to 3200Mbps).
Cons
  • Some small things

Fiction Before She's Dead

The router died yesterday. It started blinking the red power light and after being unplugged for a few minutes it wouldn't turn on at all. Up to this point it has been a fantastic product. I contacted support with a promise that they would send me a replacement. I hope this isn't a permanent issue, I really like the features and the speed. In the meantime, I'm back to my old router and modem. ---- Update 10/22/19: Netgear has determined that Treasure Truck (the reseller I purchased it through)…
