The filter is the same size and type as the espresso machine.

Filters ordered in December 2015 and received large filters with ion exchange resin filters. Perfect fit for my Breville 870XL Barista Express. Video review below: https://youtu.be/FaRBC1lLGZsNote that the packaging says "Activated Carbon Filters" but the filters are really ion exchange resins that do the best job of removing solid minerals from the water.

Identical to the filters that came with my new Breville espresso maker

These filters are identical to the filter on my Berville espresso machine. They work fine. They seem expensive for what they do. However, being able to drink a great espresso every day in the comfort of your own home is a luxury. Regular use and replacement of these filters will most likely prolong the life of my espresso machine.

Doesn't fit my new Breville BES870XL/A because .

Does not fit my new Breville BES870XL/A as the outside is too big so the filter gets crushed when you try to push it in. I solved this problem by trimming the stitching around the filter a bit until it fits properly (about 1mm). Also, the filter has about 30% less resin than the original, so I have to change it more often. You get what you pay for!
