Worked as I hoped

My cheap (maybe $15) Lowes doorbell installed 4 years ago decided it no longer worked. The hammer turned out to be stuck. Not to mention my old block was only sending out one thing, no dong, all that time. The new Broan device arrived, installed in less than 5 minutes and worked great. I have both ding and dong! I feel like a rich man! The only downside is that the screw holes don't match the previous model, so I used the top/bottom holes to avoid pulling out the left/right anchors I had…

Nutone calls seem the same

I paid more ($26) for this unit thinking it was better inside and it was exactly the same inside as the $14 unit that came out came to the construction. Buying NuTone will save your money as you can get the cheapest product as the internals are likely to be identical. The doorbell switch is what failed in my setup. The doorbell is also NuTone and I took it apart and it's the cheapest junk I've ever seen. If the switch fails, either the transformer or the chime will burn out (both in my case)…

Poorly made, not loud enough, get something else.

My original NuTone quickly failed due to melted plastic due to magnetic clamps, short circuit and overheating. I bought this identical replacement and after a few uses the gonger fell apart and was in worse condition than the original. Revain is happy and promptly sent a replacement, but my faith in NuTone is in the way of many similar Chinese products. I think quality and cheapness are mutually exclusive in this case. I already knew that, but it's not loud enough either. Maybe for a really…

Replacement Modern Doorbell

Replaced an old wooden doorbell with this modern style from Broan-NuTone. Although the chime cover is plastic it is durable and I expect it to last for many years given the device is wall mounted. My old bell cap was made of wood, which was common at the time. In our current market I would probably pay more for a wooden or metal chime. Mechanically, replacing a doorbell is easy, as all you have to deal with is various screws and a few low-voltage wires. Not much has changed on the internal…
