The perfect replacement!

This is an exact replacement for the light switch on my '72 J4000 Jeep. and spare parts for this 3/4 ton jeep pickup are not easy to find!

Perfect for the interior

Perfect for my '74 CJ5. Easy to replace. On the left side of the toggle there should be a small button that you press to delete an existing one.

Works like new for Body and Fairing

Installed on my 76 CJ5 a few months ago and it still works perfectly. If you don't know, you don't need to remove the switch to swap out the grip. There is a button on the switch housing. We press the button, we pull out the old handle. Insert the new grip and press the button again to install the grip.

Very cheap soft metal

The shank is some kind of metal but definitely not steel and is very soft. It actually bent when I just pushed it into the switch with no real pressure. After straightening it out and finally being able to snap it into place I think it will work fine, but if it gets hit at all when pulling out it will be taken care of for sure.

Why Omix, why? on Trim

I can't say this is a review of this particular knob but I bought a full set of knobs and controls for my CJ. The fit and finish of these buttons really sucks. Standard pens have images on the pens, not just a circle. My biggest complaint is that the circles in the center of the buttons aren't even the same color. Some of them look like chrome and some are almost white. But it fits and works.

The shaft is made of aluminium, not steel like the original!

Do not expect reuse. I had to take it in and out several times as it didn't work smoothly as the shaft appeared slightly larger than the original I removed. I easily solved this problem by slightly drilling out the lock nut on the headlight switch. However, since I've removed it 2 or 3 times (and that can be tricky) it has worn down the aluminum and then stayed in the switch. I then went to an auto parts store and bought a steel stock with a chrome detachable grip from the help department.

Extremely cheaply made don't expect it to last long

Aluminum shaft as others have noted is likely to fail quickly but I've already bought it so I think I'll find out. Getting him to turn on the switch and stay in it was quite frustrating - I had to press the release button on the side of the switch as hard as I could, push the stem in and wiggle it. I wouldn't be surprised if the tiny retaining notches break or wear out quickly. There's a reason the factory was steel, you can spend another nickel to make it at least as good as the OEM. To be…
