Description of Onsen Bath Sheet Set - Premium Supima Cotton, Lightweight, Cinder Grey: The Ultimate Luxury Experience

100% SUPIMA COTTON: Our towels are made entirely from extra-long staple Supima cotton, which is among the softest and finest in the world. GARMENT WASHED: Onsen towel is garment washed (multiple times) to bring out the natural softness of our premium cotton, without the chemical bath. SURPRISINGLY LIGHTWEIGHT: We learned that premium cotton and a curvy weave make for an exceptional towel in a lightweight body. A heavier towel sounds fancy, but the extra weight makes it less breathable and slower to dry. DURABLE: Twice as strong as regular cotton, the long fibers resist breaking or tearing which results in an incredibly resilient product. INCLUDES: 1 Bath Sheet, 1 Hand Towel, 1 Face Towel.

Feels like you're drying yourself with a thin blanket

This towel works as advertised but is far from comfortable and the fact that no fabric softener is recommended just adds to that. They dry quickly and the towel itself dries quickly (not surprising as it's very thin) but it will take you some time to see if it "should be odor proof" or not. I don't hate it but for the price I definitely don't like it.

Not worth the price

The fabric has a luxurious feel so I think they should do something there, but it fails in two important areas: 1) It doesn't dry you very well. I usually dry myself with another towel after rubbing myself with it for a while. 2) It's not very soft as other people have mentioned. You can get softer towels at Target for $12 and more absorbent towels. At $5 there's no reason to buy this towel if you don't like the way it looks.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Nothing here

In San Francisco, my terry towels took over 24 hours to dry. These towels dry in about 6 hours. There are 5 people in my house and our towel was wet all the time. Now they are sometimes wet, but mostly quite dry, or at least partially dry. They're not the softest, but they get softer with every wash. And they are very attractive when you see them in person. I like them a lot and overall I'm very satisfied!

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Cheap version of Japanese waffle towel

I should have trusted my instincts and not bought this product. Onsen only shows four and five star ratings on its website and removes all negative/critical reviews from its Facebook and Instagram posts and even blocks users who leave less than four star ratings. This towel is thin, cheap and expensive. For the best option, purchase an authentic Japanese waffle towel like those sold at The Citizenry. Onsen towels look good in their marketing materials but are actually of very poor quality. The…

DISHTOWEL - towels

Very nice packaging and overall good marketing. However, there is only one thing you need to know: THIS IS BASIC DRYER TOWELS. They are VERY thin and light. That's why they dry so quickly. The cotton they use may be high quality and intricately woven, but it looks SUPER cheap and the edges are not straight and crumpled. Apparently they get a lot of returns because they're basically begging you to keep them and telling you they'll get better with time and washing. They cost $300 for four sets…

Non-absorbent, sticky and sticky

I really thought I'd like them - I like the style and functionality of most Japanese things. Well maybe (as another reviewer said) Japanese made waffle towels are better. It's been two weeks, I'm not a fan. Outside of the packaging I didn't find it very absorbent: it just squeezed water around. Having had this issue with many brands of new cotton towels over the years (anything about how cotton is processed these days?), I washed them in hot water before judging. On the other hand, it hasn't…

Washcloths for $12?!?!?!

I bought it and returned it unused. It seems to be of decent quality, but that's a cotton rag, just one, for $12. I can only assume I misread the description or confused it with another product. It's not a face towel, it's a washcloth, just one, 12 x 12 inches (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm), for $12. Yes I repeated it to make sure people reading this review understand exactly what they are getting. At least the return was quick and easy with Prime. I took it to UPS with the label printed out and when I…

From Disappointment to Joy

When I first received these towels I was disappointed. The towels felt thin because they were thin and light. After using them I still didn't like them so I switched to other bath towels. After using onsen towels, my regular bath towels became heavy, bulky and awkward to use. I ended up donating my other towels to charity and ordering more of them. The bath towels are much larger than most bath towels and the bath towels are so big that my husband said he felt like he was drying himself with a…
