Light and warm good for men

To give you a little taste of me I've only been riding my bike since July and almost exclusively for commuting about 5-6 miles a day depending on errands I run. I also lift weights 4-5 days a week and play mostly recreational basketball and racquetball. Earlier this year I was 5'6" and gained to 175 pounds (for me) and I wanted to lose weight so I figured cycling would be the perfect way to do it. It won't be long, if ever. than driving, and I've actually lost to 163 pounds. I wanted to…

Warm, flexible, functional

Love this jacket, commuting on a cold Bay Area morning, haven't tested it in the rain yet but so far so good. Bought a large, I'm 5-10 185, it fits like a glove. It's a little baggy on the wrists/hands, but it makes signaling easier and allows you to be a little more flexible. An additional pocket in the sleeves allows me to cover my glove straps and the back of my hand for a "sealed" feel. I did notice that the zipper on the chest is a little windy, but nothing to worry about. it is incredibly

Fantastic jacket for cold weather!

This is a nice jacket that works just as well. I'm 6'2" and 185 pounds. I bought a LARGE one. Fits perfectly. I still have room for a tier below but it's not necessary for now. I have 15 minutes to get to work. It was in the high 30's with gusty winds and the jacket alone has held up very well.Went around 40 degrees in torrential rain and was warm and completely dry.Thermal underwear is popular for mid 30's and colder. This jacket costs more than others but me think it's worth it.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • No insurance

Worth every penny, seriously

I've been looking for the right cold weather/winter cycling jacket for a long time. After spending a few days researching different brands, I settled on the Pearl Izumi jacket based on the following factors: 1) It looked great 2) Lots of great reviews 3) Reviews of how windproof/warm the jacket is was 4) Reasonable price compared to quality as I put it on today I checked it out. It was a busy day with high winds and actual temperatures just under 40°F. Here are my results: COMPLIANCE: This is…

Solves a problem with indoor shoes Question

I've been looking for a cheap winter jacket for a long time that I can wear for a long time instead of resorting to indoor shoes. The Pearl Izumi Pro Softshell is the ticket. I drive early in the morning and the temperature fluctuates between 50 and 40 degrees. I can switch layers underneath and still ride comfortably. The jacket works exactly as PI claims. Cold wind does not penetrate the jacket. Ventilation is provided by laser-cut ventilation holes in the pits and on the main zip. The lining

Please see size

This is a superb jacket for cold weather riding, it is comfortable, warm, layered and windproof - I originally ordered a large when it arrived and I have it tried on, she was a bit tight with a thin base layer, adding another layer made it too tight so returned the large and ordered size XL to replace - found this with high end beads and the professional ones pieces that I own. increase one size - the selected items correspond to the size -

VERY nice jacket on clothes

I bought this to ride on those fall winter days and evenings when the temp is in the mid 30's and over 40's and I could with my purchase not be happier. While my feet or hands may be cold, this jacket keeps my body and hands warm even when paired with a thin base layer. With something thicker, it can be worn well into your thirties. The fabric does a great job of keeping the wind out, but doesn't protect you like the PI Barrier jackets. Ideal for windy, cold and mostly dry driving. For really…

Good product - but I still need a protective jacket in cold weather

This is a great product, very well made and warm. However I can't tell any difference between this, the Pro and the Select when they are part of the 3 layer system I use when the temperature is 20 or even 30 degrees with wind. Tried using this with a thick base layer in the 30's but felt the need for a barrier jacket. Note that this is slightly warmer than the Pro version, which is slightly warmer than the Select version. But thinner jerseys seem to be more comfortable and I still need three…

Love this winter cycling jacket

Best cycling jacket I've ever had, tight, warm and I always get compliments on it. Excellent design with a large functional back pocket with compartments. I wore this in 35 degree weather with a base layer and a long sleeve jersey and didn't feel cold at all; didn't even close it all the way.

  • New to my collection
