Slips when grabbing: tools and equipment

I have to say I got what I paid for. This may work in certain cases, but didn't work for me. As I squeezed it hard, it got bigger. So don't do anything other than a strong grip, it doesn't work on something rusty or anything.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Broke as soon as I pressed the filter

These pliers broke as soon as I touched the filter. A piece of the ratchet just broke off and flew away. I will never buy this tool again. I didn't dare send it back for someone else. wasn't worth the trouble.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Not the best

Great for hard to reach oil filters on John Deere tractors

This was just what I needed to remove the oil filter from my John Deere JD125 without removing the cover plate. (Apparently John Deere doesn't hand tighten their oil filters at the factory - mine was very difficult to loosen and remove!)

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

. the smallest (cars and light trucks) are fine Filter Pliers

work in an express loop shop and these oil filter pliers are used every day - the notches in three sizes wear out quickly or slip through if oil gets in - so the solution was to put the bolt and nut in the notch so it's always the smallest (cars and light trucks) - good filter pliers

Pros
  • Sleek and modern design
Cons
  • good but not great

Also great for catering maintenance

Ordered these oil filter tongs for restaurant equipment used to filter hot oil in fryers. The union nut is smooth and easy to burn when loosened, these pliers eliminate the risk of burns. This tool also makes disassembly easier when parts get stuck due to thermal expansion/contraction, which was another reason for purchasing this automotive tool.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • High price

to adjustable Oil Filter Pliers

Assuming that these oil filter pliers will work with different sizes due to their sliding jaw design, after about 3 days of use they will automatically slip into the best settings no matter where you want them. The only remedy I have found for this BS is to reattach the nut and bolt so that they are forced into the minimum position. They no longer open, but you can only use them in this size range. Still usable, but overall a bad buy.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

Good pliers for sizes 3+1/4 " to 4+1/2 ". Oil filter

I first tried the handy rag trick and twist but to no avail. These oil filter pliers were just the right tool to remove the oil filter from my Ford Explorer 4x4 truck. The job would have been a lot easier if I had a hydraulic lift in my own garage as it was quite difficult to use the pliers while kneeling in the wheel well. The filter was very tight and this large oil filter (up to 4+1/2 inches in grip) was quickly freed with pliers! Very well made with 2x adjustment for 3+1/4" and 4+1/2" oilโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Does the job! in Tools & Equipment

I'm a mechanic and I change the oil frequently. Most oil filter pliers are straight, and it's okay if the filter is just outside with no obstructions. However, they are great for hard-to-reach filters. I can't say they work for everything, but they do an excellent job on 90% of the spiral filters I come across. Also, the teeth bite into the metal and seem to have more grip than other brands I've used. The handle is soft and remains grippy even when soaked in oil. worth your money! The onlyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Failing
