Performance Tool 4-Piece Double Ended Pick & Hook Set Review

I bought a set of 6 picks on April 1st. On June 1, the pickaxe broke at a 90 degree angle, remove the plastic clip on the wing bar. I bought this set to replace my 15 year old master set. Not the best replacement kit even at a low price. Used the tool three times then it broke. I would not recommend this kit for in-car use. I'm buying a master set.

I think these hooks and picks are used a lot by mechanics, but I've found them useful for things like removing old sealant from a mostly filled sealant tube once opened; Starting holes for screws in wood and drywall; removing nuts, springs, grommets, etc. when they get into tight spots; Thread the rope/wire through the small hole; and much more. You have to buy this.

Buying cheap Chinese goods on Amazon is like buying things in the cargo port. They work. but you need to do some kind of build, tweak, or mod to make it work properly. It's a great choice! What I had to do was take two heavy gauge pliers and screw them into the handle as tight as possible so they had no play. Then they work perfectly! I might use some sort of threadlocker on it in the future. I highly recommend them.

I used this kit to remove the o-ring in the Harley Davidson Softail fuel check valve (lower rubber end) due to a fuel leak. I used two o-ring picks and did the job in 7 minutes with a small mirror. This saved me from buying the entire fuel tool kit which costs about $89 or replacing the entire fuel line with check valve which would have cost me about $200. The set is of very good quality and very practical. However, the selection was a bit smaller.

Strong metal handles are good, this is a good set for removing o-rings or gaskets or even cleaning dirt from the engine. Black paint will of course be used or some other sealant remover but for the price who cares, I don't use tools for beauty, I use tools to get the job done. I wouldn't attempt to use it for removing silicone grout or grout or clay or plastic projects as this set isn't sharp enough for that. I would recommend the General Tools 80 two-point fixed scriber for this type of job…
