Detects motion, provides you with lux and temperature.

I love that Hue Labs is developing automation scripts for the device. I can see the current outdoor brightness and the current temperature. It can also be alerted when motion is detected and can be configured not to notify you at a certain time. Yes, and it can also turn on the light when motion is detected, day or night (you know how it's advertised?). , I want other non-Hue devices to sound an alarm on their phone or at home when motion is detected. I can order a second device around the…

Excellent goods. If you have their lightbulbs, you need them.

Wyze is standing at the window looking out onto the porch. Wyze doesn't do well with glass in the dark, and our neighborhood is pitch black because the neighborhood association doesn't allow street or night lights. All of the lighting in our home is made by Phillips Hue, which we love and trust, so I thought I'd buy an extra bulb and put it on the porch. No, it is not an outdoor lamp, but we do have a well covered porch and a covered porch light. I thought the motion sensor would turn on the…

Efficient but limited in installation and sensitivity

I bought this along with several outdoor Hue lights (two callas and three lilies). As with the internal sensor, placement is everything, and there's no easy way to temporarily install it - I used gorilla tape to hold it in place while I checked the spots. The mounting kit is interesting and can be used in corners (inside or outside) but flush mounting is not an option and is not adjustable. I would really like Philips to include an adjustable sensor hood, because the sensitivity setting in the…

Everything is perfect after firmware update

Firstly I love Hue products and even had to upgrade to 2 bridges. For the most part, it works great and has a long range. A screw secures the bracket to your home and then you hang the sensor on the bracket. It seems pretty safe. I installed it at 8ft 2in to maximize coverage. When I first got the motion sensor, the light sensor didn't work from dusk to dark and kept the light on even in broad daylight. It was on firmware version 6.1.0.25261. However, a firmware update came in and now the…

Two gave up after just a few months.

Update 3/27/20: I bought a second one because I thought the first one was damaged by water (see below). The second is protected from the rain by a makeshift cover made from a used milk jug. Like the first, it worked without problems for several months, but suddenly lost contact with the hub. It's about 12 feet off the ground so I removed it - reset and replaced the batteries. Worked about a week and stopped again. For the money I can't give more than one star. Before: I was very happy with this

Imperfect design. Too sensitive. Limited Application.

I bought 2 of these based on my positive experience with many other Philips Hue products. Because of this, I had high hopes for this outdoor motion sensor that I wanted to integrate into my home automation system. Unfortunately, while the sensor is clearly well built and durable, the internal hardware design appears to be flawed. During the day, even at the lowest sensitivity setting, the sensor is triggered by changes in ambient light, e.g. B. Shadows moving on the ground and cars driving by…

My choice for wildlife protection

I've been using these sensors for about a year. I mount them outside on fence posts and trees. They are connected to my Homeseer home automation system via Hubitat home automation. Zigbee motion sensors and easy connection to Hubitat hub. My wife has a huge amount of plants in her garden and we use motion sensors to detect deer coming into the garden at night to eat her plants. Homeseer sends a voice prompt through Google Home where the sensor is detected. (The dog is dying to hear the…

Pros
  • Good product for the price

  • Reliability

TL; DR - Make sure your sensor is enabled in the Hue app before attempting to change batteries! I am very satisfied with these outdoor sensors. . I get false motion readings when the sun shines through the trees on one of these in the morning, but overall they're very reliable at controlling the hue of indoor and outdoor lighting. I especially like that I can use the movement of these sensors to trigger HomeKit automation. I just spent an hour figuring out how to open the Hue outdoor motion…

The hardware is solid, but some of the software needs some work

I got a Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor and have been trying all day to get it to work without success. Connecting an outdoor sensor to the Hue app is easy and painless, but that's where the usability ends. First thing I noticed was that the ambient light sensor would get stuck at 1 lux no matter what light it was in. An internet search revealed that this is a known issue and one solution was to remove it from the Hue app, reset and add it back to the Hue app. This method didn't work for me. There's…
