RISEPRO decibel meter failed after only 6 months of light use in a university environment. The meter has been boxed and well cared for, but it no longer turns on. The battery has been replaced, the tests are good. The seller does not respond to inquiries and refers me to Revain. I will definitely not buy another one.

Did what I needed. It never seems to go below 30-35 decibels, but then I read somewhere online that the library is between 30-40 decibels, so it seems to be working great. A minor downside is that the instructions say it may need to be recalibrated at some point in the future, but there don't seem to be any instructions on how to do that.

First off it's advertised as a minimum of 30dB but if you read the manual it clearly says 40dB to 130dB. This meter reads 60 dB in a dead quiet room. When you turn on the backlight, the reading drops by 20 dB. Regardless of the reading, the backlight goes out as soon as it is turned on. Someone bought 2 and put them side by side and they were off by 30dB when measuring the same thing. It's worse than toys.

I am involved in a lawsuit for nuisance to residents and needed a decibel meter to demonstrate the constant noise levels I was being exposed to. I have a lawyer waiting for this information. BUT. The screen is very difficult to read and the numbers are only visible for a few seconds. I'd say it's a piece of junk and my apps run much better. The muffler or whatever is on top keeps falling off and as I said saves your money. Thanks for the recommendation Amazon. NO.

I used it once it caught an annoying jerk across the street starting its lawn mower parking it running right outside my front door then walking and letting it run, do not come back until the gas runs out (6 hours). I couldn't keep track of the desired decibels but I took a picture with my phone for the cops who think I'm overreacting. Tracking obstruction - that's it. The bad news is that I lost it. Good news, I'll buy another one.

I have used high precision sound meters in the past and of course it was quite expensive. This device is very cheap and does a decent job for what it costs. It measures the overall sound pressure level in the specified bandwidth. It does not in any way indicate the audio levels on the selected bands. Accuracy has not been measured but seems acceptable based on my past experience with more complex devices. I used it to measure aircraft noise during landings and takeoffs to see if it was worth…
