Doesn't work for Guards & Locks

This allowed the door to open a little which is fine but the door was able to open further than it should. It says it opens 2 inches but opens 4 inches. A child can easily get stuck in a large opening. Now I have holes on the door and door frame from a defective product.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Damaged

Works if you remember it's there

Installed this on our garage door. As mentioned in the previous review, he pulled open the door. I even asked my husband to anchor it but to no avail. Trouble is, you forget he's there because he's at the door. A few puffs and he moves out. I am currently looking for something new. I really wanted this to work!

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • good but not great

Ideal for plinth doors.

I was looking for a security that would not allow our baby to open the door to the basement and lock itself. It worked perfectly and also stopped him from closing the door with his fingers. Just make sure the door is in the natural position when closed when installed. Pushing or pulling the door while marking it can result in it not closing 100% of the time. Easily opens from the other side of the door.

Great for cats and kids!

Ideal for homes with cats! Our litter box is in the basement so we want our cat to have access but not always our children (especially crawling babies) and this works perfectly. You really have to think through your setup (and make sure everything is hooked up properly before you start drilling, so it's best to have 4 hands and 2 brains for this), but we've got this on a few different doors and we made sure it works you. Be careful - make sure you line things up so you can close the door all…

Pros
  • Hard wearing surface
Cons
  • Older model

Finally found what you need!

We needed a lock that could be opened on both sides for our cellar door, so that the door remained completely closed and our 2-year-old had no chance to open it. It was surprisingly hard to find, but then we finally found this lock! It's big enough that a child can't play around with it at all, but it's easy for an adult to open and close it with one hand. It's on the inside of the door; it looks nice because you can't even see it. My husband said it was easy to install. The only thing I'm…

Pros
  • beautiful
Cons
  • questionable purchase for older people

Easy to install and very effective - handiest I've seen

Installed in 2 minutes and could have been quicker if my 2 1/2 year old hadn't helped! TEMPLATE INCLUDED - Measure 60" from floor to bottom of template, drill 3 pilot holes. Insert 2 screws into the main unit on the door, install locks (hook on the door) and screw to pinch test. I undid a latch first. Always snaps when door is closed, prevents door from opening AND closing again after opening so little fingers don't get pinched - easy release on either side of door (very important for us after…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

Worst door lock ever. Only 2 days

Our house is ten years old and has good new doors. This door lock requires you to put two screws in the door and one screw in the door gap. Two screws ripped off the door after just two days! I don't understand how other reviewers can give this door lock four or five stars. This is the worst we have ever used. This door lock attaches to the outside of the door (the side where there is no lock). This is a problem because when you try to open the door, you forget that there is a door lock that…
