Great article. in diagnostic, test and gauge tools

Bought for use in parts shops when we need to disconnect a customer's battery to remove seats or disable airbag sensors etc. saves the stereo and seat settings, air conditioning like this when the car is spun. Great little thing.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Neutral

Nice to have LED light

Red LED lights up when power is visible from both ends. Knowing this, and knowing which end you plug in first, can help you ensure that there is indeed power in the jack. For the price, it's a lot cheaper than going to the dealer because you need unlock codes or a factory reset.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Something's wrong

Supports computers in cars

I used this to upgrade to a new battery. I used the battery jumper as a 12 volt power supply. Replacing the car battery took much longer than usual. After completion, neither the radio stations nor the vehicle settings were lost. Ideal! You need an alternate source to keep your computers running, and this cable will work with any starter kit.

Pros
  • Robust version
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

How to save codes: Diagnostic, test and measurement tools

For little money I was able to save all the radio settings and all the computer codes when changing the battery. All you have to do is plug the connector into the code reader and I connected the other end to a 12v charger. Then I disconnected the old battery, put in a new one, started the engine and removed the code saver. Simple and perfect! This is REQUIRED when changing the battery, either with this device or a similar device.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Nothing here

Worked great - code reader and scan tools

I used this on my 2015 F-150. I have a 12V/35Ah gel cell plugged into a cigarette lighter socket. I used this as a power source. The Ready indicator on the device will only light up after it is connected to the OBD-II port. I plugged it into the truck, closed the door and made sure the dome was off. Then I changed the battery. I disabled the memory splash screen and all my navigation and radio settings remained. Is it worth the money to me?

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Can't remember

Worked great when I changed the battery in the car.

Schumacher SEC-12V-OBD '12V' memory saver worked great when I replaced the car battery in my Cruze. Everything stays in the memory of the machine. The only downside is that the cord is short, which means you'll need an external 12V power source like a portable jump starter with a "cigarette lighter" outlet. I already had one so no problem. I knew from the description it was 3'. So I know what I'm getting myself into.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Concerns me

Works as advertised.

The easiest way to preserve the memory of OBDII and other vehicle systems is to service the battery. I've used it on several cars now. I connected it to a 12V portable battery (60Ah AGM in a trolling motor battery case) that we use to power our telescopes and a smaller 12V lithium battery that is used for the same purpose . It worked great with both of them. Complaints about the length of the cable are unfounded as it is well represented in the description. If you don't have a portable 12V…

Pros
  • Pretty Package
Cons
  • Infinitely Slow

Recommended OBD Cigarette Lighter to save space when changing battery

OBD Cigarette Lighter at a good price. I use this with a Schumacher SL1 jumper to power the car's computer, radio, clock etc when I change batteries. I like it for the shorter length and lower cost than other Schumacher models. It's not really necessary, but it saves a lot of time when working with multiple cars etc. For example, I just recently replaced my dad's battery, it never occurred to him that all memory was saved, don't need it scratch your head resets time, resets radio stations, car…

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • Hard to say
