Limited data transfer rate and interface difficult to use

As already mentioned, this product has several problems. If I had known about this when I bought it, I would not have bought it. First, there's a 500MB limit for high-speed data, making the Solis a lot less appealing than a much lighter, cheaper local SIM phone. While I had no intention of using this for hours of video streaming, I expected a much more user-friendly fair use policy. Also, it's difficult to use, not impossible, but not very intuitive for the end user either. This is a new idea…

Pros
  • understandable even for the old
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Well, to me the cons outweigh the pros. Cons: - Bigger than mine, which is perfect (Hockey puck design is a little bulky in places and hard to fit in a jeans pocket) - Takes a long time to charge (6-8 hours in my experience) - When used as a phone battery, it lasts not very long - Cost of charging global Wi-Fi is only marginally cheaper than my Verizon International roaming plan - Too many little adapters to lose if you don't have a USB-C phone You have to keep your adapters in the keep an eye.

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are cons

The original is better! Save your money! Don't update!

I've been an active supporter of Skyroam since I found her a few years ago. BUT. now i'm not sure anymore. The new Solis isn't my favorite Skyroam and here's why. 1) It is HUGE compared to the original. Not ideal if you're trying to minimize what you carry with you every day. 2) The new connector is inconvenient for the user. Now I need an adapter and a charging cable to take with me. The old USB was great, this new one is not so good 3) it has no screen. So it's not friendly to see if you're…

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • Not bad, but...

It's not all made up

I bought it for a 1-month trip abroad and have been trying to register for several days without success. To use it, first connect to the device wirelessly, then go to the page where you register, and then you can buy day passes (coverage). My heavy orange rock just sent a signal that it's charging at 10%. for hours every time I tried. I went to their tech support site, called (they told me they were busy once - no kidding when this is a product they sell!) and emailed to no avail and decided to

"Unlimited data " = 500MB, just enough to send emails.

I bought Skyroam because it promised "Unlimited data for 24 hours". I recently spent two weeks in Egypt and used Skyroam daily. I didn't have any issues connecting to Skyroam, but found that the response deteriorated significantly after a few hours of use. It turns out that Skyroam's definition of "unlimited data" is 500MB usage and then the amount of data is reduced to a level sufficient to send emails. I ended up turning the device on and off throughout the day to save data so I could have…

Terrible for me on a 3 week holiday in Europe

It was easy to set up initially and I was happy to see it could work with up to 5 devices. However, I was disappointed when I came to Europe. Skyroom worked fine with just my phone connected, but when my girlfriend connected to it, we took turns disconnecting from the wifi. You will then try to enter the password and it will say it is wrong. To fix you I had to turn off Wi-Fi, turn off my phone and turn it back on. After I connect, my girlfriend will disconnect and she has to start the same…

Pros
  • Many will do
Cons
  • Can I add something

Has a catch - 500 MB daily limit!

$8 a day sounds reasonable for unlimited LTE, right? Two to three times what you would pay locally, but you only pay when you need it and it's always available when you need it. Unfortunately, Skyroam doesn't offer $8/day for unlimited LTE. After using just 500MB in a day, you drop down to 2G, which is little better than your 1995 dial-up modem. Imagine about 5 kilobytes per second - in fact that's useless even for light web surfing today when web pages can be 2-3 MB each. If you live in the US
