Practical and functional

I washed two of these clothes in the washing machine. Not recommended but I was surprised they survived. I use them to record live music so I can learn tunes at home. The quality is normal for this purpose and the size is excellent. Battery life seems acceptable, and with a built-in USB port, it's easy to import files to my computer. When I open files, I use itunes by default, so they're right there. But you don't need a computer to use it. It has a built-in speaker and a headphone jack.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No insurance

Built for work.

Voice Recorder works well in ALL cases I tried it. I later ordered an external microphone, which improves performance somewhat. A lot of recorder in such a small package. I use a straight patch cord to connect my tape recorder to a tape recorder and digitize the audio. I downloaded them to my laptop and burned them to CD. After playing around with the settings a bit, everything worked perfectly. Now for the info screen which is a little hard for me to read due to my age but despite the device…

Worked fine initially but now have some issues

This Sony Digital Voice Recorder worked fine when I first bought it but I had some issues with corrupted files and problems transferring MP3 files on the device. My computer (running Windows XP Pro) often freezes when transferring MP3 files. Out of frustration I go back to my old Sony NetMD disc player. Chunky, but it works. The Sony IC Recorder still captures audio quite well. I will probably buy a product specifically to store and play music files and just use the SONY IC to record the sound…

Very good (buy battery)

Very good design and finish. The elevator is excellent. I wish they had a simple in-memory audio editor out of the box. (There are free files on the web, but be careful what codecs you use. I took an 8MB file, threw away 2/3 and re-saved, and the new file was 13MB. However, this unit has it not affected - except that the Sony codec consumption is very good). Plan for a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, as it drains the battery pretty quickly during recording. Again, I think this is relatively…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Digital Voice Recorder Sony ICD-UX81

I mainly use this recorder to listen to audio books after converting them to MP3 format and downloading them from PC. The sound quality is surprisingly good, and a AAA battery in the headphones seems to last forever. I use Logitech FreePulse Wireless Headphones when listening to music while doing manual work. I use it instead of an iPod or smartphone for playback at a fraction of the cost. I checked the recording function and it seems to record very well. I suggest using an external stereo…

This is an old model and works well. MP3 is the default format.

This recorder is fine. I can easily transfer MP3 files to Windows 10. Desktop or Surface. It runs for over 12 hours on a single AAA battery. This is a small format. It takes some time to learn how to press the buttons to program the voice recorder, but it's pretty intuitive. When you need a voice recorder, this little one can stay in your purse or shirt pocket. Works more than 12 hours. This is not a new model. It has been for many years. I like the MP3 format though, no software required…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
