There are no traces of casting on the domed head.

I used these to attach the fenders of my '62 Willys pickup to the fender support arms. At first I thought I would paint them to match my color but they look good so of course I left them. No burnishing or polishing and most importantly no casting marks like regular Sae carriage bolts.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs

Not 18-8 or 304 stainless steel!

Like all austenitic stainless steels, 304 or 18-8 stainless steel (18% chromium, 8% nickel) is non-magnetic. These bolts react to magnets so are not 18-8. (Apart from reference purposes, I have a lot of 304 and 316 stainless steel, and none of them are magnetic.) Other grades of stainless steel (400 series) have their uses, but are nickel free. There is no excuse for misrepresenting this product.

  • Ease of Use

The quality is so bad it's impressive

I bought this because the saving was a little more than gas for a trip to my local hardware store and I wasn't in a hurry. After 20 ft-lbs of torque, the bolt stretched enough that the nut was completely frozen and could not be removed. When trying to remove it with two standard keys, the bolt began to bend. Finally, I took the saw and made the trek to the store that I really should have done.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll text back later
