Great nostalgic radio

Was looking for a radio for the kitchen, bedroom or outdoor patio for news and music and wanted something new that looked old. Originally from Indiana, the Studebaker name caught my attention. The ability to switch from AC to battery power during power outages or in remote locations is a plus. The tuner finds stations that my other stereo system can't find. Not a bad radio station

I wanted a retro style radio and it fits perfectly. It's cute - very small, about 7 inches wide and 5 inches tall, not counting the handle. The antennae extend about 12 inches. I used it with mains lead, not with batteries. Transistor quality sound, so if you're looking for depth of sound, this won't satisfy. The volume on/off button works smoothly and is not always easy to turn due to its smoothness. The radio needle is a little hard to see unless you have good light - I tune in to my favorite

Pros
  • Radio receiver
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

There aren't many small radios these days so this one is acceptable for the price. A plus is the built-in AC plug with no external power supply and batteries for portability. The tiny speaker could be a lot better, it looks like old walkie talkies. It has a pretty powerful amp, about 10 watts as far as I can tell. I have adapted mine for external desktop speakers and once plugged in they sound good, have some bass down to about 50Hz (you have to solder to connect them yourself (no external jack
