Great portable scanner!

I have to go to various libraries to do research and I'm tired of a) spending money on photocopies, b) worrying about getting said photocopies, c) taking said copies home take and d) keep said copies. When I first started digitizing my huge collection of prints I decided it was time to stop and after reading the reviews I bought this scanner. It is very convenient and very easy to use. I disagree with those who complain about distortion due to uneven movement. It's very easy to keep your hand…

Excellent handheld scanner

After receiving the scanner I used the included 120V/USB adapter and USB cable to charge the scanner and an 8GB microSD card Installed. "was great. You might need practice to avoid skewed scans, but the quality is very good, even at low quality levels (300 dpi). I then docked the scanner to the docking station and used the auto sheet feeder. Again, Scan quality is excellent even at medium to low dpi settings.NOTE!(I missed that at first!) The docking station MUST be plugged into a power source…

Learning curve

I'm used to manuals etc. A simple card is required to set up this device. The terminology was a bit confusing. They told me to press the "Format" button, all I found was a hole and when I looked through a magnifying glass I thought there was no button. As it turns out, thanks to a helpdesk tip, the button is at the bottom of the hole and should be reached with a toothpick or a bent paperclip. I suggested that they might want to include this advice in the instructions for other people like me…

Fantastic scanner! good for document scanner

Of course I have a smartphone app that I can use to scan documents and convert them to PDF. The app has started deleting my scanned images. It may be a coincidence, but I was also told to upgrade to Pro for $4.99/month. Not wanting to pay $60 a year for mobile scanning, I chose this SVP scanner. The price and features made the offer a good deal for me (I believe the prices of these scanners have come down due to smartphone app scanners). Benefits1. The LCD screen (although tiny, allows you to…

Excellent product in a small package

I was surprised that you can use a microsd card up to 32GB. I scanned the color album cover and the result exceeded all my expectations. Great color and opacity for about 2/3 of the width. It works just as well on single scans of paper as you can glide over it smoothly. If you wiggle or anything goes wrong, the result will be affected, but it's still fully readable. When I scanned something with a backlight (my computer monitor) it looked black and white but was legible. I just experimented on…

Good scanner worth the money.

I wanted something to scan books that a flatbed scanner can't do. I bought it not really expecting much but I was surprised. This is a very good scanner. It looks good and feels good. For books, this works well if you scan the page edge-to-edge rather than top-to-bottom. One side of the scanner is only about 1/4 inch wide, so you can get close to the spine of the book where the blank is and then scan to the other edge to get the entire page. The scanner needs a little training, but after a few…

I really wanted to like it

Let me first say that this scanner is probably a good fit for a student who wants to capture raw footage quickly. I would kill for it when I was at university. Unfortunately, it just doesn't fit my needs. Let me be clear: at first glance, Handy Scanner is a very well put together little tool. Build quality is much higher than I expected, with a solid frame and nicely tactile buttons that click when pressed. The screen is a bit small, but it does its job well (as an indicator for quick settings…

Suitable for scanning on the go.

There were several scanners of this type to choose from and I chose this one based on the price and good reviews. This requires an SD card, so included in the price. A small SD card is sufficient since you want to transfer the files to your computer. The system works as follows: place the scan bar on top of the paper and then manually scroll the scanner to the bottom of the paper. This can be difficult if the page slips. The scan will be distorted if the scanner is dragged unevenly. There are…

Great handheld scanner

The HandyScan SVP PS410 600dpi handheld scanner is the first handheld scanner I have ever owned. In general I am very happy with them. The scanner requires a micro SD card; and one is not included with the scanner. The scanner can use a micro SD card with a maximum storage capacity of 32 GB. When buying a scanner, be sure to include a micro SD card in your order. The scanner also requires two AA batteries to operate. A set of batteries is included; However, some people found that the batteries…
