The quality is at the highest level, be sure to try it.

In general, an excellent radio receiver, there is not enough air recording, RDS and a full-fledged alphabet display. It is a pity that the next model (PL-990) did not receive any of the above.

    Pros
    • - High-quality sound; - Extended FM range; - SSB; - Powered by 18650 cell;
    Cons
    • - No RDS, although the chip on which this radio is built fully supports its decoding. They just didn't do it. - Inconvenient location of the adjustment knobs. I came across a model with bad encoders. Over time, the encoders loosened up and now they scratch the radio housing during rotation. I had to order new encoders. - Poor display viewing angles.

Overall pretty good, an equal number of pros and cons.

If you need a receiver purely for listening to the VHF FM band, don't waste your money. This receiver is not for you. Buy an ordinary Chinese soap dish for a maximum of 1000 tyr and get high in the kitchen. And if you are also an old senile radio amateur, then this is your product. These things have become obsolete like audio and video cassettes, if anyone else remembers them. Now in the age of the Internet, who needs them? Pure waste of money. I bought mine from Chinais for 4500 sput. It's…

    Pros
    • An ordinary receiver like all old Soviet receivers. VHF, FM, HF, MW and LW bands. In short, the all-wave + amateur radio old insanity range. 1 battery 18650. Cool and holds for a long time. Low power consumption in rest mode. Handsome set up. Rough and precise. Well done Tex here. The sound is pleasant, though not powerful.
    Cons
    • No backlit keys. It is not convenient to drive in the dark. For such grandmas should shine like a Kremlin star. Very flimsy back cover stand. I already got ripped off. On NE and DV does not catch a damn thing. But who is there to catch? When the battery is low, for some reason there is an abrupt volume control. Quiet, quiet, then sharply loud. This does not happen when fully charged. Very expensive. Not worth your money. Max. price 100 bucks today.

The best thing I've ever used, I recommend it to everyone!

I recommend to a true lover to travel for hours on the air. If you like to listen only to FM, then you absolutely do not need it - buy a simple Chinese or mini-system, or listen to Internet radio. This receiver is only for a crazy shortwave radio amateur. You can turn the tuning knob for hours and admire the parameters of a cool receiver. Easily does many expensive pure-Japanese HF receivers. Well done Chinese. Worth your money. Bought with case and storage case.

    Pros
    • The receiver is cool and one of the best for professional search and work on the air. The common man doesn't need it. Excellent sensitivity, selectivity, listening to amateur radio and broadcast stations on all VHF-FM, HF, MW and LW bands. Huge memory. The possibility of fine tuning and detuning from interference.
    Cons
    • I did not find any shortcomings.

It has some flaws but the product is usable.

I do not recommend to buy. It seems that the product is far from serial, but is assembled on its knees (I did not check the quality of the installation, so as not to spoil the protective seal). The presence of a reset hole with the following wording in the manual: "If the device does not function properly, you can reset it by inserting a pointed object (for example, a paper clip) into the reset hole and pressing the [RESET] button with it" indicates software flaws . On Ali, the same receivers…

    Pros
    • Pretty good sound for this format. The presence of ssb and five IF filters in the DCMV, in fact, only bought because of these functions. Pretty handy control panel.
    Cons
    • On the fourth day, the backlight of the indicator began to live its own life, or rather it was the following. In the "on" mode, the backlight always works, but in the "auto-off" mode, the backlight began to blink, which began to annoy and automatic auto-off did not occur. As a result, I had to return the receiver. I didn't expect the same. It took 5 days to understand that for such money the quality leaves much to be desired. I also did not like that there is no backlighting of the buttons, in the dark it is extremely inconvenient. I was also surprised by the hole for resetting the settings to the factory settings (like with routers), which seemed more than strange to me for this kind of device.

The perfect purchase for me, exactly what I was looking for!

The package makes a good impression. Although this, of course, is not directly related to the quality of the receiver itself, but a solid hard case for transportation or storage, a soft case for everyday wear, a powerful (3.4 A) charger - all this demonstrates the manufacturer's respect for consumers, the desire to make everything is top notch. I am happy for the Chinese and envy them a little.

    Pros
    • High sensitivity, small size and weight, capacious battery, SSB reception capability, large station settings memory, large easy-to-read display, input attenuator, smooth tuning, direct frequency input - in general, everything you need.
    Cons
    • Not

The right product for me, there were no problems.

Do not listen to the experts above, complete nonsense! The receiver is worth the money, just take it on ebay. The sound is loud and clear. Calmly catches FM stations, where other receivers are silent deafly. If you take it for NE, then keep in mind that in big cities you will hardly catch something, there are too many electromagnetic pickups. This applies to any receiver. If you want to listen to pirates, go to the region.

    Pros
    • Picks up FM stations where other receivers are silent. If it is important, then he takes Hong Kong 101.7 (ours), for 320 km. , under good conditions. With noise, but it's a fact. The sound is just reference, even though it's a mono speaker. SSB
    Cons
    • Back cover. But the original can be bought on ebay for 300. Still no backlit keys. Well, it's good to have RDS.

    Amazing super small radio

Amazing super small radio. OK, where do I start. Most online reviews are correct. I have been playing with radios for over 45 years and with the exception of my high end ham radio kits this is the best radio I have ever used. The AM reception is as good as anything I've ever used. The FM performance is OUTSTANDING. I can receive stations that I never hear on other radio stations. Shortwave was excellent. (You really need to use an external antenna for this to work and use its potential, or hook

    Very poor shortwave reception

First the background story: I've been using shortwave receivers for over 50 years, starting with tube receivers, then a range of small portables - Sony, Sangean etc. I expected Tecsun to be a step above the last. What I found: Although the sound quality is excellent and FM reception is above average, the PL880 picks up almost nothing on HF. Almost nothing on the amateur radio bands, international broadcast bands day and night. By comparison, my old, very small, Sony ICF of a different breed…

    Excellent multi band portable radio

For a radio that is about 18 years old and still being produced and updated this is an incredible radio. It is beautifully designed and the controls are easy to use. It features state-of-the-art double-conversion circuitry followed by digital audio processing, giving it relatively high sensitivity, adjustable bandwidth, and unexpectedly good sound quality. I'm a radio amateur (ham radio) and just wanted a portable receiver for more than just the amateur bands. but also SW/LW areas. As a quick…

worth the money and good buy

Pros: PL 880 works very well, connects SW stations with antenna attached, adds rolling wire and bingo, amazing reception, as good as my old DX 440. Sounded strong and smooth. The buttons make sense and I like the signal narrowing features. I also have a 660 and both work very well although the 880 is the higher end version I would use for personal listening and the 660 when kids are around but both work. I have no complaints about the work and quality of the electronics. The battery lasts about

Good radio, maybe too much for a beginner

The Tecsun PL-880 is the first SW radio I own. I wanted something to sit around and scan transmissions on summer evenings. I live in North Central Florida and am hoping to find a place to install where I can receive signals. I was also looking for a radio to take with me when traveling to have things to do in different parts of the country. I did a little research and it seemed to me that this radio suits me. First impressions are that this is a solid radio station, in fact it's quite heavy…

    Works Great: Shortwave Radios

I've been a licensed amateur radio operator since the 1970's. Used equipment from that time to the present day. Some worked well, others didn't work at all. This radio tuned in to foreign stations, ham radio and SSB/CW using the standard antenna in my living room. So, compared to the TECSUN model that I bought and got my price back. Here's what impressed me about the radio: It works great on the AM/FM bands. A real advantage in an emergency. -- Establishes NOAA weather channels, which is also…

Tecsun PL 880 best sw radio ever

I have a Sangean ATX-909x AM/MW/FM/SSB/LW radio which I rated 4 stars 2 weeks ago when I bought it! I heard about the Tecsun PL 880 AM/FM/MW/LW/SSB/SW radio on the net and in the test reports of the best portable radios of 2017 and in You Tube videos! My wife Tere Pizarro bought me this radio last week and it arrived yesterday! It came with a nice leather carrying case, rechargeable lithium battery, USB adapter didn't come with a battery. The power supply is 5 volts to charge the battery but I…

cool radio! Top reception and sound quality!

TLDR: Excellent sound quality, excellent first-class performance (sensitivity/selectivity but with SSB/timing problem), ease of use, battery operation, excellent value for money, best quality control that Revain offers. I've been into DXing since I was a kid because my dad was also interested in radio when I was a kid, collecting crystal radios etc. The original only Radio Shack store was in the town where I grew up. A weekend stroll with my dad at The Radio Shack has always been an adventure…
