They will work but make sure you have a flat surface and the edge of the rim is not dented where the posts meet. I was skeptical of these plates so I checked the string alignment and the readings were accurate. If you have a rocky surface (in the picture I have rocky asphalt for example) this can lead to measurement errors. Both plates must be in full contact with the ground so that they cannot rotate or otherwise move. On asphalt it's more difficult than it seems, you may have to move the car.

I bought them twice now I have a bad fall (steering wheel not working) at wheel alignment shops with fancy gear. The apparently bizarre equipment doesn't offer accurate alignment due to operator error, so I don't have much faith in the alignment shops who can consistently align my vehicles.
