This is the best NAS for the money

Ready to use right out of the box and easy to set up. I also choose to purchase 2 x 4GB Seagate IronWolf and this NAS is fully compatible with IronWolf Health Management. Just waiting for the video surveillance software to come!

Pros
  • Useful for more than its intended purpose
Cons
  • No insurance

Easy to set up, works great

My TerraMaster F2-221 NAS has two 4TB Toshiba N300 servers. I use this as my Plex Media Server and it was very easy to set up. It's nice that TerraMaster includes Plex Media Server as a downloadable option from their interface. It runs fairly quietly for the most part, but when the show/movie airs you can hear it picking up speed. Overall, for the price, this is a good NAS for Plex streaming and I hope it continues to perform as well as it does now.

I agree with other reviewers. After about a month, the processor showed 100% utilization. xmrig used 100% of all CPU power to use MY NAS disk for other people's crypto mining. I contacted Revain who put me through to Terramaster over the phone. There was a slight language barrier in exchanging codes verbally and via email, making it difficult to resolve the issue. I used a very long password but it looks like someone or a bot was able to add the encryption software. Maybe xmrig was there from…

Outstanding performance, first class service.

This NAS was purchased to facilitate file sharing between workstations on a cross-platform network between Macs and PCs. The packaging was top-notch, which meant that everything you would expect from a major peripheral manufacturer was made by (presumably) a small company that I had never heard of before. Made of plastic, the device is well designed, feels solid and I'll appreciate the lighter weight if I need to travel with it. The UX reminds me of a Linux interface but makes sense in every…

Excellent Media Server and Storage Device

I recently purchased the F2-221 as an upgrade to my F2-220 which I purchased in September 2017. the writing speed was particularly attractive. It arrived in an f2-220 like box which was easy to open and very easy to set up, especially with the online instructions. Since I used my previous hard drives, I didn't even have to reformat them. I also transferred the TerraMaster 2GB RAM stick to the F2-221 relatively easily. The box is small, light and quite elegant, not to mention the silence. The…

The F2-221 NAS works great and is easy to set up and use!

I bought this dual NAS on March 29, 2019. The device was packed in a very strong cardboard box with pre-cut foam inserts to protect the device during shipping. sealed in a plastic bag. The kit included a smaller box with a power supply, 2 different sets of screws for mounting hard drives. Chrome screws for 3.5" drives and black screws for 2.5" drives such as SSDs which appear to have slightly different threads. Also included was a good screwdriver and an ethernet cable. Setting up the drive was

updated test report 2 years later

2021-03 Edit: Shortly before the 2-year warranty expired, the system was "walled up". Luckily I had a fresh backup of my data so nothing was lost. Terra-Master support was unable to get the system working remotely and quickly replaced the device. I was unable to remount the disk volumes on the new server and had to reformat the disks and restore from backup. The new drive trays use three screws instead of four as noted below. The HDMI port on the new device is covered, but it looks like the…
