Not functional. can't separate paper from tape

The rolls I received were out of shape and looked like they were crushed. I was hoping the white tape would work as it would be less visible on the white surface. As others have said the tape doesn't separate properly from the wax paper making it impossible to work cleanly with this tape. I tried putting it in the freezer but that didn't solve the problem of the tape sticking to the release paper making it impossible to use the tape as intended. I had to throw them away as they are useless. Iโ€ฆ

Great product but can be a hassle to use

I have used this on several Airstream RV repairs. It takes some getting used to and can still be painful, but I'm much more confident that the end product will be waterproof than silicone and other options. Tips: * Try to use it when it's not too hot or in direct sun. It expands, becomes more difficult to work with, and separates from the paper. * Don't try to drill it. He will grab the bat and pull it out of position. * Leave no residue on the floor. it gets everywhere, and then it will beโ€ฆ

Find another brand of white butyl tape or stick on gray

I have used butyl tape before but always grey. I needed white so it wouldn't be so noticeable when it gets below the edges of what I'm listening to in my van, so I gave this stuff a try. The consistency is similar to chewing gum. It doesn't flake off in one long chunk like butyl gray, it stretches and turns into big, long, threadlike strands when you try to work with it. It also sticks to fingers and is tedious to use. Maybe it's a brand and there are some white varieties that work, but Iโ€ฆ

Not the best tape I've ever used.

I used this tape to attach some of the brackets when installing the canopy on my caravan. This tape is very different from the one I've used before. The first problem I had was that when the tape comes off the roll, the edges of the tape are very wavy and uneven. This made it difficult to attach the canopy to the 20 foot aluminum rail. The second issue I had was the band being pushed out of the brackets a lot more than the bands I had used in the past. It spilled out so much I had to cut it off

What a mess! on butyl tape

Four rolls of white butyl are enough to renovate my motorhome. What a mistake - it turned out to be a real mess. Two problem areas: 1) The putty tape was pressed against the backing causing it to stick every 1 1/2 inches. I couldn't stick tape to work. 2) The base is very thin. It will tear every few inches and separate with paper firmly attached in the center. All of this required me to peel off just a few inches at a time and then press a bead of putty into the area to be sealed. Poor paperโ€ฆ

It worked exactly as intended but requires the installer to be very careful.

Butyl tape is not easy to use. I think the reader should understand that it sticks to itself very easily. If this happens, there is nothing you can do. You just have to cut it out and start over. I used it to seal screws through a waterproof membrane. It seals the screw hole and membrane penetration. I didn't remove the nonstick side because you don't need to remove the nonstick side in this application. But the reader should understand that removing the non-stick side does not give you aโ€ฆ

FREEZE! in Adhesives, Sealants & Lubricants

I'm in Florida. When I received it, it was no longer a round roll but almost triangular. And he couldn't get rid of the paper on either side. Unless I wanted to roll it into a ball. So I keep it in the freezer and cut strips as needed. I had to reinstall the taillights and the full width was too wide. I could cut the desired length and then cut the strip in half. But it will be softened so that it can be cut quickly. In the southern heat, it heats up within a few minutes and begins to stick toโ€ฆ

Roof Repair with Butyl Tape

I have a 40ft x 26ft polycarbonate sheet roof that is leaking like a sieve. The main cause of the leak is that the hardware store strategically placed the wrong sized screws next to the panels. These screws are too short to barely cut into the wood purlins and the EPDM rubber washers are too small. Another reason why a roof leaks is due to the capillary action of water being sucked up between the horizontal and vertical parts of the ceiling. Panel. The leak is so bad that when I see a screwโ€ฆ

Ideal for boat gear, windows, luggage racks, etc.

This material is excellent for preventing or repairing leaks on boats. DO NOT USE SILICONE SEAL, USE BUTYL TAPE! Sealant dries and cracks, butyl tape stays flexible for literally decades. I found what I believe to be the original 1971 butyl tape in the window frame of my sailboat that looked as fresh as the new stuff I bought. Also, butyl tape is much easier to clean than caulk. I have used it on my sailboat to replace windows, lifelines and deck gear. For windows, you want to use butyl tapeโ€ฆ
