Good value and performs well for light duty

FYI I am a retired USN Salage employee and used to working with complex heavy duty rigging, towing and lifting systems . the compact system fully met my expectations. I plan to use it less than 4 times to assist in felling trees 8" or less in diameter. SAFE USE: To ensure safe use, the purchaser must be "familiarโ€ with the design, setup, and operation of the rigging equipment. (at least 2 or 3 hours research). COMPLEXITY IN DESIGN AND USE: Unless you have hours of "hands on" experience and aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 1 ton payload
Cons
  • Hard to say

Almost useless for elevators

I tried to use this to lift a steel I-beam 12 inches off the ground. The beam was 1400 pounds, I was only trying to lift one side 1 foot, so less than 750 pounds. before the bar even started to move. After using two other pulleys to get more mechanical advantage, I moved it 1 inch instead of 1 foot and it felt wildly unsteady. Using a simple piece of wood and a crossbar, I was able to raise the beam 6 inches at a time with little to no effort. With a 6:1 mechanical advantage, I had to liftโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Soft loop Strong durable polypropylene cable Pro: comfortable to use Cons: soft cable easily tangles
Cons
  • Almost never

The 50ft rope comes off pretty quickly when climbing

Sorry I didn't plan better. Item as advertised but wish they had advertised a little more. You really can't imagine the maximum diameter a hook can be placed on. If so, I would buy a bigger lift. I use a lifting system for this to lift heavier items up into the attic, something like Clark Griswold. The attachment point of the floor to the attic is pretty standard I think, 15 feet or so. Well, a roll of 50 feet of cable just won't cut it. With 2 pulleys, 2 full loops you essentially have a 1/4โ€ฆ

Pros
  • The length of the rope is 50ft. (when measuring manually, please allow 1-2cm deviation)
Cons
  • Minor problems
