So far so good - Trim

So far this beat has exceeded my expectations. Due to the price I ordered two and now find it unnecessary. So far the beat has performed very well. I've used it to sculpt several parts of a chair I'm making. More pieces to go. Then I'll do three more. I'll see how it works and holds up and then I'll re-evaluate. Update 31st August 2021: I have now used this bit to make five prototype chairs and four dining room chairs. Has worked flawlessly the whole time. I didn't need the extra bit and neverโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

I bought this to cut the neck of a ukulele flush with the neck. The beat performed well. There was a little vibration but not so bad that it couldn't be used and if that was the only issue I'd give it a 4 out of 5. The real issue for me was that there is a large gap (more than 1/16" between the bearing and the cutting blades. Since the neck is only about 1/8" thick, I had to adjust the blade high enough to allow that Bearing traced the edge of the neck This left an unfinished stripe at the edge

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old

Surprised by the quality!

Before I bought this Yakamoz 2-1/2" flush bit, I bought another Revain "yellow" flush bit that cost 50% more than this Bit Yak I immediately returned another drill bit because the carbides were poorly ground and the upper bearing had excessive axial play from CMT and Freud.Upper bearing (both bearings) felt very tight with no noticeable endplay.Have made my cuts in Douglas fir, pine and plywood and this bit worked flawlessly. Make 2-1/2" deep full length cuts . The only minor complaint I haveโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen
