this is NOT an official medela product. ithought it was because they use the brand name. they are made SIMILARLY in shape ONLY to the medela personal fit but the plastic is hard and has sharp edges. the valve is not separate from the cup. i have large breasts with a smaller nipple and while these are the correct size for me (21mm) , because they are not made as rounded or with soft plastic like the official medela products, they cut into my breasts and damaged my nipples because of the roughness of the plastic, causing raynaud of the nipple. as a result i now have TERRIBLE shooting pains in my breasts and nipples when the nipples get hard (vasospams) and breastfeeding is intensely painful. when i say painful, i mean it brings tears to my eyes and is pretty unbearable. i am not able to pump as much anymore because of this and as a result i have had to supplement my baby with formula for when i am at work during the day and she is with her dad.needless to say i am PISSED. the lactation specialists at medela came to my rescue but they cant fix my nipples. my only option is to stop breast feeding and pumping until this goes away but that also will make my milk dry up.do yourself a favor and for 3 dollars more just buy the official medela products from either the medela website or from the seller lullabybabyon amazon.id add photos of my damaged breasts but it would probly be considered obscene. look up raynaud of the nipple on google images.
