We have hardwood floors mostly with a few rugs. We had a carpet sweeper similar to this when I was growing up that worked pretty well so I decided to give this one a try. I am really pleased with it. I have tried it on different types of rugs–shag and smooth–and it works well on all of them. It usually picks up the crumbs the first time I run the sweeper over them. I am also able to get it to work on our hardwood and kitchen laminate floors too. It doesn’t always work as well, but it does pretty good. (Three of the photos show me sweeping up cheerios on our kitchen floor. It took two swipes over them to get them all. Sweeping from different directions help, and sometimes it works best to start with the sweeper right over the crumbs.)I also love the brush tool that clips onto the handle to help clean hair off of the brushes. Hair is a huge issue at our house on vacuum brushes and this brush cleaner tool works pretty well. I make sure to clean any hair off of the brushes as soon as I finish with this sweeper to keep it from getting built up there.Dumping the crumbs out is easy but it kind of makes me jumpy waiting for it to "pop” open when I push on the two dots (I am one of those people who dreads popping open biscuit cans too). I have found that it is just as easy to lift at the base, where it opens, instead of at the two dots to open it to dump it out. Then I don’t have to anticipate it "popping” open like when you do when you do it the way the instructions show.I really like this carpet sweeper. It is very useful at our house.
