Review on Xiaomi Mi Smart Compact Projector: Full HD Resolution, Portable Home Theater, 500 ANSI Lumens, Sealed Optical System & Integrated Sound Chamber by Hasam Mondol ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything about the product satisfied me, the price is perfect.

I decided to purchase a new Xgimi G3 projector, a decision that I have never once come to regret. The most recent update to the firmware has fixed the issue with the sound lag, which affected both wifi 5GHz and bluetooth connections. Quite a zippy Android TV that enables you to watch movies in high-quality torrents, IPTV, and YouTube streams directly from the projector; nothing else on the screen needs to be broadcast via HDMI from your computer. I am able to comment on the picture by saying that the Chinese have made an effort. It is not a super-calibrated picture, but the colors are quite accurate, and there is no overexposure or color influx. You won't be able to process pictures on it, but it is possible to show the end result. In "Children's Mode" and "Normal" image modes, you can see almost the same as on a calibrated monitor without any quibbles (with the latter, the sharpness is slightly higher, but for me it feels redundant). And now, regarding miracles: the picture on a 120-inch projector, owing to the DLP3310 chip, feels nearly as though it is being displayed on a 4k TV, or, to be more accurate, as though it is being displayed on a 2k TV, since in reality we are only seeing a 2k image. Because of the diagonal shift of the matrix by half a pixel and two 60 Hz FHD controllers DLPC3437, the image is almost completely free of pixel grid (visible only on white static), and during the downscaling of a dynamic image from FHD (with a good bit rate), and higher, we get more details than on simple full HD. There is a choice in the service menu that allows you to alter the operating mode to 2k mode, but even if we won't see a true 2k on the screen (despite the fact that there is a setting that allows us to do so), we won't have the impression that we're just viewing a standard full HD. About gaming, everything is straightforward. The input lag will be practically undetectable to the average person; even in the "Monitor" mode, I am able to play curling iron with total ease (I liked it more than "Game"). HDR is effective, the picture quality is excellent, and the immersion provided by such diagonals is just stunning. In terms of brightness, during the daytime in cloudy weather, there is no need to even curtain the windows; however, I do use a reflector, and white vinyl is also praised. This is because there is no direct sunlight entering the room. You must have an understanding that the capabilities of the projector are only half of the capabilities of your image, and that the screen that you choose to use is a significant consideration.

Pros
  • Feature set, picture quality, and level of illumination.
Cons
  • There is no support for 3D, there is a slight delay between key presses, and there is no option to fine-tune the RGB channels.
