The average product, you can find a better one.

Do you remember the stylish chargers that came with the orange noodle cable imprinted with the company? Pf. Forget! At first, I assumed that it was missing something, but the website assures me that everything is in working order. JBL, are you under the impression that all of your customers have powerful chargers? Those who are unlucky enough to have iPhones capable of charging at 1A will, for instance, charge 7500mAh before the second coming. First, some historical context. I have been using the godlike JBLCharge 2+ for the past four years, which has given some soundbars a run for their money, everything in it was gorgeous, great sound, soft bass, but the time came and I began to think about upgrading because the speaker is getting on in years and is no longer as young as it once was. My decision came down to the Sony SRS SB-41, and I ended up purchasing it since I was impressed by its qualities, LDAC codec, and reviews. As a direct consequence of this, even then, the sound is repugnant. I spit in my hand and bought the JBL Charge 4 once more without really understanding the characteristics of the product (yes, that was my mistake), but I couldn't even begin to imagine how JBL began to breed customers with their "if you want a stereo, here we suggest you buy one more speaker and make pairing" pitch. All of the earlier lines, including FLIP, Charge, and Pulse, use TWO speakers to produce STEREO sound, which just sounds better. Although the loudspeaker is now more powerful and has a higher volume, the sound quality has suffered significantly. And here I was wondering why JBL would start commissioning advertisements from bloggers; now I have all the answers. The fact that the sound across the whole model range was converted to mono was ignored by every single reviewer who worked on the project. Disappointment. Smart is a synonym for "strong." The column was written from scratch.

Pros
  • It's cute, it's loud, and it plays music.
Cons
  • Where are you, Kit (z or y)? Sound in mono. The bass eventually grew less resonant and expressive.
