Slim, but not my choice for infants.

We got this for my 9 month old son to ride in my husband's '21 Ford Ranger truck. Now my kid is a pretty big kid, always in the 80=90th percentiles for weight and height. Despite that, the head rest doesn't come down enough to help cradle his head if he falls asleep in the seat. We have to use the included infant insert, which fits, but he's so snug in there, I can't imagine it's very comfortable. But it keeps his head from falling sideways off the car seat. We put the strap pads on as well to try and help the issue and they're incredibly bulky, soft, but bulky. Also, since he is rear facing, the seat is very tall. So whoever is sitting in front of this seat will not have a lot of leg room up front. My husband was the one who installed this seat and his comments were that if this were just a front facing seat, it would've been a breeze to install. But because we needed it to be rear facing, it was a major pain. Especially because he was trying everything he could to figure out how to make sure it would work with our kid without having to use the infant inserts.I really feel that once we don't have to have this seat be rear facing, it'll be great. It is indeed skinnier and makes it so there is enough space for us to have a seat in the middle of the backseat between the two car seats.Overall, besides it being a slim car seat, I'm not impressed. And I'm currently keeping on the lookout for a different option.
